The Outsiders - 2. Why the 'Outsider' is so widely used in storytelling.
Description
This week, Mark and Zac discuss and explore why 'The Outsider' character type is so widely used in storytelling.
No matter what your interest , the world seems to love or cheer on 'the underdog' or the character that has to overcome various hurdles in order to endure and win the day. You only have to think about most of the 'superheroes and villains' to realise that these characters are 'Outsiders', either banished or in most cases 'self isolated' from the world in general.
More often that not, these characters have been hurt, injured or alienated during their lives and have chosen to self isolate or avoid relationships other than the flirtation or dalliance with others as a temporary measure but prefer solitude to avoid further hurt or conflict.
Can you relate to any particular character and if so, why ?
Part of the reason, (other than a sort of catharsis), we choose to focus on this topic is that we want to help clarify through discussion, this particular mindset and bring with it, some kind of solution, advice and insight into this condition that affects so many people and through this forum help those of you who want to gain clarity and purpose as well as a kind of understanding and self acceptance.
