Description

Susan Powell feared for her life. She braced for divorce as her marriage to Josh Powell reached its lowest point in 2008, but worried how he would react. She even wrote a secret last will and testament that said, "If I die, it may not be an accident, even if it looks like one." Josh had learned from his dad Steve Powell's divorce and made preparations of his own. He set up a trust that would give him control of Susan's $1,000,000 life insurance policy in the case of her untimely death.

For the past three years, investigative reporter Dave Cawley has been studying thousands of police documents, journals, videos and diary entries. He has tracked down new sources, followed new leads and traced Josh Powell's trail from West Valley City, Utah, through Idaho, Oregon, Nevada and on to Washington State, where he killed himself and his two sons. Cold is the most complete retelling of the Susan Powell story ever. Join Dave Cawley in his search for truth.

This podcast is excellent. I've heard all about Susan Cox's story (I refuse to acknowledge the surname Powell; the Powell men are disturbing at least and dangerous/murderous at worst). It's tragic to hear the depths of their journals. This poor woman - I fear he wound her up in the tree branch wrap from Lowe's, then torched her wrapped body. I'm so terribly sad for the final days of this fearless, hopeful, thoughtful young woman's life. He likely poisoned her causing her nausea. Just tragic.

One more thought, I wonder if Susan found out about his pedophilia and threatened him. It’s just interesting that as soon as he was questioned by the courts to seek professional help, he murders his children and himself. I think he murdered his wife when she found out about the sexual abuse. Makes you wonder what he went through with his father as well. Genetics and environment. His father was creepy too.

Honestly, my first thought was he has the creepiest voice. He is a horrible husband to say the least. And she was absolutely psychologically, financially, and emotionally abused when they got married. I feel it was her faith in religion that kept her in that relationship for as long as she did. Women often are taught to stand by their man no matter what. I hope that they find her remains so she can be put to rest and her family can rest.
