In this episode, Missy talks to her daughter, Sydney, about the process of producing Lena’s Zinnias, the children’s book she wrote, and Sydney illustrated.  There were several interesting twists and turns throughout the process and Sydney had a lot on her plate at the time.  But, this labor of love, in honor of Missy’s grandma/Sydney’s great grandma was worth it all.

Sydney is a Mixed Media Artist, living in Kansas City, MO. She lives with her husband and her dog, Hazel. She primarily uses acrylic & watercolor paints in her work, and enjoys including gold leaf & oil pastel as her signature technique. Sydney is known for large, vibrant floral canvases and feature walls. She also has a crafty side - you can find her polymer clay creations on her Etsy shop, The Boho Babe KC. Sydney is the illustrator of Lena's Zinnias, written by her mom, Missy. Sydney was born and raised in the Saint Louis area. She studied Art Therapy as an undergraduate student, and then went on to earn her Master's degree in Education. She has always had a passion for mental health and overall wellness. She started her professional career teaching Middle School Art and is now focusing on growing her art business, while also working as a wedding coordinator & patient coordinator part-time.
