A traveler came by and asked the first man, “What are you doing?”
The man replied, “I’m breaking stones. Can’t you see? It’s hard work, and I hate it.”
The traveler went to the second man and asked the same question.
The second man answered, “I’m earning money to take care of my family. It’s tough, but it feeds my children.”
Finally, the traveler asked the third man what he was doing.
The third man looked up with pride and said, “I’m building a great cathedral that will stand for centuries. Every stone I break is part of something bigger than me.”
