There are 2 local weather hazards at the time of this report. Here are those local weather hazards.

Short Term Forecast. Rain and Storms Weakening, Will Gradually Dissipate. At 930 PM, Melbourne doppler radar showed a lingering area of light rain with a few embedded thunderstorms across Orange, Seminole, northeastern Lake and northern Osceola Counties. This activity will gradually weaken over these 4 counties, while some light rain from these showers and storms crosses the St. Johns River and spreads into interior Volusia County. Additional rainfall amounts will generally range from a few hundredths to a quarter of an inch, with a few spots in Lake and Orange Counties picking up another one half to one inch from these embedded heavier cells. After the rain ends, widespread mid and high clouds will gradually decrease, with another sultry night in store. Expect lows in the lower to middle 70s.

Hazardous Weather Outlook. This hazardous weather outlook is for east central florida. Day one. Today and tonight. Thunderstorm impact. The east coast sea breeze will develop late this morning, leading to earlier thunderstorm development near Interstate 95. Collision with the west coast sea breeze will occur over the interior, developing additional thunderstorms. Activity will then move back toward the Atlantic coast, with thunderstorms lasting through sunset. Storms today will be capable of producing dangerous lightning strikes and wind gusts up to 40 mph. Always move indoors when thunder is heard or lightning observed. Flood impact. Slow moving showers and thunderstorms this afternoon will produce heavy rains over 2 inches in a short amount of time. This will lead to ponding of water on roads and other low or poorly drained areas. Rip current impact. There will be a Moderate Risk of rip currents along the east central Florida coast today. The threat will be highest during the afternoon and early evening hours due to tidal effects. Always swim in sight of a lifeguard. Marine thunderstorm gust impact. Scattered thunderstorms that develop along the sea breeze collision this afternoon will be capable of producing wind gusts over 35 knots, impacting lakes across the interior. Thunderstorms will likely push toward the Atlantic coast late this afternoon along additional outflow boundaries. Mariners should be prepared to seek safe harbor when storms threaten. Fire weather impact. A Moderate to High fire danger will be present today. Wind shifts and increase in wind speeds associated with thunderstorm outflows and the sea breeze may cause any existing fires to spread more easily and lightning strikes may start new fires. Days two through seven. Friday through wednesday. Higher rain chances will be present tomorrow through early next week as a low pressure system moves across the Deep South, bringing higher moisture to the region. Showers and thunderstorms are expected area wide each day. A moderate to high fire weather danger will be present through this weekend. Lightning strikes from increased chances for thunderstorms may spark additional fires. Spotter information statement. Spotter activation should not be needed today and tonight.

See you tomorrow!
