Welcome to the Analytive Podcast. Today for our guest I have Brian Hanning. Brian is a lawyer specializing in business-related law.

I asked Brian to come on the podcast for two reasons: First, as a business owner, I had questions about many of the legal aspects of running a business. Brian was gracious with his time, and I'm grateful for his ability to explain complex legal topics simply. If you're starting or running a small business, this is a great foundation.

The second reason I wanted to have him on is: I get a lot of questions from other entrepreneurs about corporate formation, trademarks, and other business-related issues. I'm by no means an expert, so this interview with Brian is something I hope to pass along to them.

Part 1 Focuses on corporate formation, types of legal entities, and other foundational information. We also briefly discuss trusts and we take a rabbit trail into how people around the world are using shady tactics to hide business activity.

In Part 2 we dive into IP protection including trademarks, copyrights, and other intellectual property issues. We talk about when you should and should not think about filing the various types of intellectual production as well as what you might expect to reasonably pay.
