Turkeys state-run petroleum corporation, TPAO, is poised to significantly boost its oil and gas production, aiming for 500,000 barrels per day by 2028 and a lofty goal of 1 million barrels per day by expanding, merging, and exploring globally. This ambitious plan is set to transform Turkeys energy security, as it currently imports 1.15 million barrels per day, primarily from Russia, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia.Domestically, TPAO is venturing into new territories, such as horizontal shale oil drilling in Diyarbakir and shale gas projects in Thrace. Internationally, TPAO is rapidly expanding, with drilling in Pakistan and Somalia, and potential projects in Iraq, Syria, Azerbaijan, and Turkmenistan. Additionally, TPAO is exploring gold in Niger and rare earth elements for tech applications.
