Description

Experience the American dream with today’s Patriot of the Past interview. I’m your host, John Gillespie.

It’s November 10, 1775. I’m in the historic Tun Tavern on King Street in Philadelphia. I’m with the proprietor, Robert Mullen, who has just been made a captain in the newly formed US Marines.

JG: “Captain Mullen, what are you doing here today?”

RM: “John, Semper Fidelis! We are here recruiting young soldiers for the newly formed US Marines. We must get ready to fight the tyrannical King George and his lobster boys.”

Captain Mullen and the Marines did get ready as they bravely fought in a number of revolutionary battles serving George Washington with distinction.

After running for U.S. Senate, John founded 1776 American Dream, which exists to demonstrate the vision of our founding fathers and help our generation of youth passionately embrace those values.
