He explains how insulin resistance prevents glucose from entering cells, leading to diabetes. Contrary to common belief, diabetes is not purely genetic but largely influenced by lifestyle.

Dr. Dixit highlights the link between obesity and diabetes, explaining that obesity is a major risk factor for insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, heart disease, and fatty liver disease. Due to modern sedentary habits, excessive sugar intake, and frequent eating, insulin levels remain elevated, pushing people towards prediabetes and type 2 diabetes.

A key takeaway is that diabetes can be reversed or put into remission. If an individual maintains an HbA1c below 6.5% for three months without medication, they are considered in remission. He stresses that type 2 diabetes is preventable and reversible through targeted lifestyle changes.

Childhood obesity is another alarming issue. Studies from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) show that over 10% of children aged 11-19 are prediabetic. Excessive processed food, lack of physical activity, and sugar consumption are key contributors.

Dr. Dixit introduces his Dixit Diet Plan, which focuses on eating only twice a day, finishing meals within 5-7 minutes, starting with nuts and salads, avoiding sugar, and walking for 45 minutes daily.

He also discusses the impact of stress on diabetes, as stress increases corticosteroids, which raise blood sugar levels. Managing stress through meditation, hobbies, and spiritual practices improves metabolic health.
