Lv: Rīgā bija jauna gada rīts, un Rūdolfs stāvēja pie loga, lūkojoties uz kluso ielu, ko klāja baltā sniega sega.
En: In Rīga, it was the morning of the new year, and Rūdolfs stood by the window, gazing at the quiet street covered by a white blanket of snow.

Lv: Tikko beidzās jaunā gada svinības, un dažas krāsainas gaismiņas joprojām spīdēja cauri ledus kristāliem.
En: The New Year's celebrations had just ended, and a few colorful lights still shone through the ice crystals.
