Psalms 147:11 The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him,
In those who hope in His mercy.

There are different ways of waiting.
1. There are those who wait "impatiently"
Psalms 42:11
Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God;
For I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God.

2. There are those who wait "patiently"
Psalms 40:1
I waited patiently for the Lord;
And He inclined to me,
And heard my cry.

We need to be prepared to wait on the Lord.
How do we get prepared for waiting?
- Praying and believing that the God who saved us hears our cries
- Studying the word of God
- Being faithful and trusting in the Lord
- We must persevere in the Lord
If we are prepared when the difficult moments come, we will know how to react to them
What are we thinking while we wait?
Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
Psalms 147:11
The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him,
In those who hope in His mercy.
Psalms 44:6-7
For I will not trust in my bow,
Nor shall my sword save me.
But You have saved us from our enemies,
And have put to shame those who hated us.
What happens while we wait?
1. Our enemy will try to bring confusion while we wait
Genesis 3:1
Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”
2. Our enemy may try to show us quick solutions which will be wrong for us
Psalms 31:6
I have hated those who regard useless idols;
But I trust in the Lord.
3. While we wait, many questions are going to pop into our minds.
Psalms 38:15
For in You, O Lord, I hope;
You will hear, O Lord my God.
4. While we wait, we often become impatient and wonder how long we should wait.
Psalms 71:14
But I will hope continually,
And will praise You yet more and more.
___
1 John 5:14-15
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
