Description

Our favorite part of Safe For Work, besides the snacks, is YOU--our dear listeners! So it only made sense for us to dedicate an entire show to your calls.

We’ll hear from listener Sarah, who has moved into a new position in her company, but is still stuck doing her old job, on top of her new job. Sarah floats an interesting solution by Liz and Rico.

Then, caller Cindy is 62, and has just been laid off from her fundraising position at a small university. Cindy gives a rundown of the steps she’s taken to get work again, as Liz and Rico talk about arguably the hardest part of getting back on your feet after job loss: regaining confidence. We also recommend looking back at our episode: “Modern Elders” And Making Age An Asset At Work for more on the value of not being the youngest person on your team.

Listener Matt is struggling with how to tell his boss that he needs to work remotely in order to be with his fiancée. Liz and Rico parse the best way to broach a tough ask with your manager. And we hear a message from listener Natalie, who is disillusioned with her career in fashion, but doesn’t know how to take the next steps to get a job she really loves.

Last but not least, we hear from Nicole who wants a more challenging job, but is worried that she won’t find another company that’s as understanding about her mental health condition.

As always, if you've got a burning workplace question and need some advice, don't hesitate to send us an email (that email, unsurprisingly, is also Safe@Wondery.com). You can also find us on Twitter, we’re @SafeFor Work. Don't forget to follow our sage hosts on Twitter, too; they're @SSLiz and @RicoGagliano. And if you want to check out Liz’s other show, Satellite Sisters, you can find it on Apple Podcasts or Art19.
