Description

Welcome to Pivotal Clarity, an AI Podcast. AI isn't new. It's been lurking in labs since the '50s, with bursts of enthusiasm and funding followed by "AI winters." But something's different now. That's why I started Pivotal Clarity. We talk to the people building and researching this stuff - the founders, engineers, and scientists who are a few steps ahead of the hype cycle. Our goal is simple: to cut through the noise and clearly show what's happening in AI. I’m your host, Rajan Maruthavanan.

In this Pivotal Clarity AI Podcast episode, Peter Voss, Founder and CEO of Aigo.ai, discusses the evolution of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) with host Rajan. He highlights AGI's origins, current misconceptions, and the need to focus on real-time learning and adaptability over the narrow AI applications currently at play. Peter critiques reliance on large language models and advocates for a cognitive approach that mimics human learning.

Here are the key talking points from the episode:
  • The Evolution and Future of Artificial General Intelligence
  • Why AGI Makes People Uncomfortable
  • Hollywood's Influence on AI Perception and Industry Dynamics
  • The Future of AGI and the Limitations of Large Language Models
  • Integrating Neurosymbolic Architecture for Enhanced AI Reasoning
  • Pursuing AGI Over Narrow AI for Greater Impact

Peter Voss has been working on AGI for over 20 years. He's not just theorizing - he's building. His company, Aigo.ai, is tackling the hard problem of making AI that actually reasons, not just pattern matches.
Voss started as an engineer, then founded a company that grew to 400 people and went public. But he's been drawn back to the AGI challenge. He thinks the key is mimicking human cognition, not just crunching more data.
His work has practical applications too. Aigo.ai is using their AGI tech to make chatbots that adapt to individual users.
Voss helped popularize the term AGI back in 2002. He's still at it, trying to solve one of the hardest problems in computer science.
