Google in general and Android in particular, has always been about flexibility whereas Apple's take has always been "we know what's best for you" and restrictive. But as they say, nothing's permanent, not in the tech world atleast. Apple's changing, or atleast trying to change and is nowadays offering better value for some of its offerings as compared to its Android counterparts..
