Description

Freedom Schools were set up in Mississippi in the heart of the Civil Rights Movement, with the aim of giving young black school children agency and a future. They remain one of the more inspiring and progressive programs in American History, yet so few know about them. We're hoping to change that.

Hi Guys! I absolutely love your show! Any chance that you could do an episode on American Indian boarding schools? Growing up in MN and living most of my life thus far in AZ, I hadn't been informed of or remember being educated ( twelve years of Catholic school) on this part of American history. The Heard museum in Phoenix has a fabulous permanent exhibit that sparked my interest in knowing the truth on what seems pretty horrible. I would love to listen to what you discover. Thanks for making my days so much more interesting! - Liz Muller
