Old Mrs. Moody and Catbaloo find a very old letter in the attic from the year 1860. It's from an old silver miner, Whistling Pete, who has lost his mule, Bessie, and desperately needs help to find her.

Mrs. Moody and Catbaloo and the kiddos climb in a time machine and travel back to an Old West mining town to help Whistling Pete find Bessie.

Listeners will learn a little bit about silver mining and mules, and that helping a friend in need is more rewarding than silver or gold.
