For more than three decades, this legend has been a practicing negotiator, intimately involved in some of the world’s headline dramas from hostile takeovers to hostage negotiations.
Larry King, who grew up with him, has written stories describing his negotiating skills even as a child.
His clients have included business executives, entrepreneurs, sports and entertainment agents, even government agencies, including the Department of State, FBI, CIA, and the US Department of Justice.
In 1980, he was dubbed "The World's Best Negotiator" by Playboy magazine.
In 1981, Time Magazine said "If you are ever in a crucial life-changing negotiation, the person you want on your side of the table is Herb Cohen."
It's around that time that President Carter's administration called on Herb Cohen to help get our fifty-two hostages back from Iran, which he did, even famously predicting the release of the hostages almost to the exact hour.
In 1995, Publisher's Weekly stated that Herb's book "You Can Negotiate Anything" was the fifth-bestselling audiobook of all time.
