Zara's Indo-Trinidadian Dinner & The Legacy Of Indentured Labourers
Description
🇹🇹Come get a taste of Trinidad in Episode 15! Meet homecook Zara, a school teacher, jewellery-maker, and the photographer behind @lessthan_10 , a project showcasing Black and ethnic minority educators in the UK.
Zara walks us through some of the Trini dishes she grew up with, and we learn about the island’s history, it’s people, and their many cultures. This is a heavy one. And an informative one. We talk about empire and colonization, the transatlantic slave trade, indentured servitude, and promises of a better life— and explore how this history is reflected in Trini food.
