xAI's World Model Revolution: How Elon Musk is Building AI That Understands Physics for Next-Gen Gaming

To achieve this goal, the San Francisco-based start-up has hired specialists from Nvidia, including experienced researchers Zeeshan Patel and Ethan He, who have experience with world models. xAI is actively building an "omni team" focused on generating content across various modalities, including image, video, and audio. They are also seeking a “video games tutor” to help train their AI, Grok, in AI-assisted game design.
Although building world models remains a huge technical challenge, with difficulties in finding sufficient and costly data, some groups have vast expectations, believing this technology could unlock uses for AI in physical products, such as humanoid robots. However, some industry figures suggest the games sector's biggest problem is leadership and vision, rather than needing more mathematically produced gameplay loops.
