The 1943 Copper Lincoln Cent Controversy Revisited - A Podcast by Rick Saphire:Rick Saphire

The 1943 Copper Lincoln Cent Controversy Revisited - A Podcast by Rick Saphire

1943 Copper Lincoln Cent Controversy Revisited Researched and written by Rick SaphireCopyright 2025 Rick Saphire and York PublicationsPodcast by The National Podcasting CompanyTo coin collectors and fortune hunters worldwide, the 1943 Lincoln cent has been a subject of controversy and curiosity. Although the United States Mint denies, to this day, that there were any Lincoln cents struck in copper that year, the search for the elusive 1943 copper Lincoln penny continues. Yet, several of these pennies have been “authenticated” by some of the country’s most respected coin rating agencies. Since the 1950s, these rare coins have sold for as much as USD 1,700,000. An intriguing part of the search for the 1943 copper penny is the story about how these unofficial coins might have come into circulation. In this article, I will attempt to unravel the implausible “facts” and provide a plausible explanation.

London Labour and the London Poor Volume I by Henry Mayhew (1812 - 1887):LibriVox

London Labour and the London Poor Volume I by Henry Mayhew (1812 - 1887)

Subtitled, "A Cyclopaedia of the condition and earnings of those that will work, those that cannot work, and those that will not work.""The history of a people from the lips of the people themselves .. their labour, earnings, trials and sufferings, in their own unvarnished language, and to pourtray the condition of their homes and their families by personal observation of the places ..." "My earnest hope is that the book may serve to give the rich a more intimate knowledge of the sufferings, and the frequent heroism under those sufferings, of the poor ..."Henry Mayhew was a social researcher and journalist; he compiled a four volume work in minute detail on the lives of the poor in London, of which this is the first volume, published in 1851.(Peter Yearsley)Notes:1 The reader has attempted different voices to separate the interviewees from the narrator, but makes no claim to the accents being appropriate to the speakers.2 Very occasionally, the language used may be uncomfortable to a modern listener.3 Sections 34, 52, and 89 consist of analyses of the data collected in the preceding sections. Mayhew himself implies that it might not be too interesting for some of his readers. Listeners to this recording could miss out these sections without fear that they are missing much.4 Where expletives and proper names have been abbreviated in the text as, for example, "D---d", or "Mrs M---", these have been rendered as "D blank D" and "Mrs M blank" as appropriate.5 There are some pages of errata at the end of the book, which mainly involve corrections to the many numbers given in the text. The corrections have been included in the recording. However, many arithmetical errors still exist; these have been left unchanged.Definitions and slang:1 In Mayhew's time, a chandler was a dealer in household items such as oil, soap, paint, and groceries.2 "ing-uns" are frequently mentioned as being sold by the costermongers. This is clarified in the text as being their name for onions.3 The phrase "Han-sellers" in section 55 is clarified as "hand-sellers" in a later section.4 A "pottle" is a volume of half a gallon (four pints).5 A quartern loaf weighs four pounds.6 "Sawney" is bacon.7 "Tin" is a nickname for money in general, while a "brown" is the nickname for a copper/bronze coin (a farthing, half-penny, penny, etc.).8 A "wink" seller sells periwinkles.9 "Woman- (or girl-) of the streets" seems often to be a euphemism for prostitutes.

Contagious Generosity - He Gave:Pastor Adam Ybarra

Contagious Generosity - He Gave

One person’s initial generosity can spark a chain reaction of good. Same can be said about God and His generosity of offering His Son Jesus Christ. God gave His One and Only Son so others can have a better life. Happier life. Eternal Life. John 3:16 NCV God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life. God sets the example for us to follow. He gave...so others can receive. For it is in giving that we receive. Proverbs 11:25 The man who gives much will have much, and he who helps others will be helped himself. When you give to God...you will always have enough. Enough finances - fortitude - friends - fun - favor. The widow from the New Testament gave all she had. Mark 12:41-44 Then he sat down opposite the offering box, and watched the crowd putting coins into it. Many rich people were throwing in large amounts. 42 And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, worth less than a penny. 43 He called his disciples and said to them, I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the offering box than all the others. 44 For they all gave out of their wealth. But she, out of her poverty, put in what she had to live on, everything she had. Jesus points out that the widow gave more than then the rich gave. The rich gave from surplus and the widow gave from sacrifice. Jesus comments on giving shows us that the value of a gift is determined by what it cost the giver. The value of our giving is not determined by its amount, but by the sacrifice in which it is given. To give anything less than your best, is to sacrifice the gift. God sets the standard - benchmark when He gave (sacrificed) His one and only son so others can receive. The widow had two coins and gave them both. She could have kept one coin for herself yet she gave both knowing the privilege of giving to God. Whatever we give sacrificially to God, He sees it and is pleased. Hebrews 13:16 Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. Whatever we give sacrificially to God, He sees it and is pleased. Our bank account does not determined joy, peace, laughter & love we have in heart & home We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. Luke 6:38 Give, and you will receive. You will be given much. Pressed down, shaken together, and running over, it will spill into your lap. The way you give to others is the way God will give to you. DNA of Bridge Point Church - Give to others. Sacrifice for others. Blessed by God. The best use of life is to give to something that is bigger than you. Many people will be in heaven because of the giving & sacrifice from God’s people of Bridge Point Church.

BITS: THE ART OF CONVERSATION:THE HALLI CASSER-JAYNE SHOW

BITS: THE ART OF CONVERSATION

What is BITS? We start with the varied definitions of bit. A bit can be a small portion, degree, or amount such as a bit of lint; a bit of luck. On the other hand a bit can be a brief amount of time, a moment as in Wait a bit. Or how about a short scene or episode in a theatrical performance? Or a bit part? Keeping with our theatrical theme, a bit can be an entertainment routine given regularly by a performer; an act. Let’s take our definition of bit further. A bit can be the sharp part of a tool, such as the cutting edge of a knife or ax or a particular kind of action, situation, or behavior as in I got tired of the macho bit. How about a matter being considered as in What's this bit about inflation? The Brits consider a bit a small coin: a three penny bit. BITS for our purposes are an amalgamation of all and is about our bit to contribute and share by bringing you a bit of knowledge as information and entertainment, and as a matter to be considered. So have a listen to our brief, daily dose of BITS where a little bit of knowledge goes a long way brought to you by the artist of communication Halli Casser-Jayne, host of The Halli Casser-Jayne Show, Talk Radio for Fine Minds. YOU’RE ABOUT TO……SO YOU CAN……’ GIVE FROM THE HEART & ALLOW GODS POWER AND LOVE MOVE TOWARDS YOUR DESIRED GOOD WITH WHAT GOD HAS GIVEN TO YOU IN ACHIEVING YOUR GOAL SO YOU CAN BE READY FOR THE REALIZATION OF A GREATER EXPERIENCE IN LIFE FOR YOU AND THOSE YOU LOVE!’ A better life is waiting for you & it REALLY does begin with you being a better THINKING you!!….Get a pen and pad and LISTEN WITH LOVE!!!“A Special Mystery Shout of Thanks To ‘TO TE CHEERFUL GIVERS THE WORLD OVER' Thank You for your faith in helping to inspire this weeks Power Pod!!-The Mystery Within****Sincere Credits With Thanks For Insight & Inspiration In Study To****The Living Word Of God From Ryrie Study Bible, S.O.M. Mag, EVS Bible Cross-Ref, Dr. E.Holmes, RBC & InTouch Ministries, Zero Mentality Ministries & Our Lord Savior Jesus Christ by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit & Yours Truly, THE MYSTERY WITHIN!!!!!*******THE TIME TO CHANGE IS NOW********SCRIPTURE / NOTES FOR FURTHER REFERENCE*****(There are no mistakes or insignificant details in the spiritual and mental world)And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”(Mark 12:41-44 ESV)While Jesus was speaking, a Pharisee asked him to dine with him, so he went in and reclined at table. The Pharisee was astonished to see that he did not first wash before dinner. And the Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness. You fools! Did not he who made the outside make the inside also? But give as alms those things that are within, and behold, everything is clean for you. (Luke 11:37-41 ESV)“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire. So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison. Truly, I say to you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny.(Matthew 5:21-26 ESV)***The Mysterys' Challenge Of The Week For Us All***‘After listening identify 3 areas of your life where you can ‘GIVE & FORGIVE FROM THE HEART’ on the way to your goal and dream. Write them down on a sheet of paper and then decide on 3 different ways you can EXERCISE THE ART OF GIVING. ***NOTE: The Easiest way for me is to THINK ABOUT ALL THE THINGS I REGULARLY...
