The latter introduces us to the long-teased organization known as CRM, while the former featured the first appearance of a badass character sporting an iron mask and wielding two short scythes. Or at least, it's this character's first appearance in the mask. Smart money says that this is either the return of a fan-favorite character who has been missing for several years, or the TV premiere of someone who has thus far been relegated to one of the other Walking Dead mediums - the comic series, or perhaps even one of the Skybound/Telltale video games. Forbes has some thoughts on who might be under the mask, which you can read here: https://www.forbes.com/sites/paultassi/2020/10/05/so-who-was-the-iron-masked-person-in-the-walking-dead-finale/ --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mattsager/support

It encompasses many movies, featuring amazing casts, ultimately of widely varying quality. The first X-Men heralded the dawn of Marvel's cinematic empire, while the classic Logan ended the series on a stellar note. The movies in between ran the gamut from fun and exciting, to dull and ponderous. But overshadowing the legacy of the X-Men movies, remain the many traumas and alleged abuses by the controversial producer who has left a toxic stain on these, and other movies: Bryan Singer. The result is Empyre: X-Men #1, a soulless piece of literary junk food that wears its disgust for itself on its sleeve. This book only exists to satiate the most desperate comic book addicts, who need a cheap hit to fulfill their OCD. As Jesse Pinkman once said of the meth he and Walter White sold on Breaking Bad, this is poison for people who don't care. But what exactly is going on at IDW Publishing? Specifically, why is their new publisher Jud Myers so toxic to the retail community that he had to be placed on administrative leave 5 days into his new position? Is IDW actually attempting to sabotage themselves, or is this a massive practical joke, or just what is going on? During a pandemic and worldwide financial crisis, can a small publisher that was bleeding money before lockdown afford to start making catastrophic errors of this magnitude? --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mattsager/support

The numbers don't lie, and what little we saw from the actual comic publishers was awful behavior from pros in lieu of any actual announcements. It was a massive failure for the television and movie panels too - again, the numbers are shockingly bad, for a convention that took place entirely over social media there was nearly zero social media activity. So here's a bit of an autopsy, along with a couple of questions: is this the new normal, and if so, is there a place in it for Comic Con? I'm thinking we need to adapt to survive, and I have a couple of suggestions. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mattsager/support

Former Buffy stunt coordinator Jeff Pruitt, and his wife, stunt double Sophia Crawford, have some damning things to say about Whedon's toxic and abusive treatment. In an article for The Express, Pruitt refers to Whedon as an 'egomaniac' who, among other things, demanded that Crawford break up with her fiancee or be forced off the show.
