Jelly Roll Morton is a fairly controversial figure in the jazz community, as though he was one of the first recorded jazz musicians, he also denied all black influence in the music, and claimed jazz was an entirely white invention. Scat is not lame. Jazz is not lame. It's an art form, and like all art forms, 80% of it sucks, and more than 80% of the population don't understand it.
