Tripawd Talk Radio Episode #118:  What is the MIMIC study for Minimally Invasive Metastasectomy in Canines, and what does Whiskey have to do with it? Today we're going to talk about Whiskey and lung mets. We have two guests to help us learn all about a clinical trial studying advancements in treatment for metastatic cancer in dogs.Dr. Chris Thomson is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, who specializes in surgical oncology, minimally invasive surgery, and interventional radiology. He is also an active participant in clinical research with Ethos Discovery, with projects focusing on minimally invasive treatments for osteosarcoma and other cancers. And that's why we're excited to to talk with him today. Dr Thomson is working on the MIMIC clinical study for Minimally Invasive Metastasectomy in Canines. That's a mouthful, but it means making advances in resection of lung metastases in dogs, with quicker recovery, some surprising results, AND more data toward finding curative treatments for metastatic cancers.And that's Where Whiskey comes in. Studying Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians revealed that most of her patients could benefit from more than the prescribed drug therapy for their pain management.  After helping her dog Samantha through a third knee surgery, Dr. E decided it was necessary to broaden her background to include integrative medicine.  By 2018 Dr. E had completed training through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute and added Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist to her credentials.Dr. E and her husband John recognized the high demand for Veterinary Physical Rehabilitation in Albuquerque.  The two sprang into action to become business owners.
