Ceci Clark is the Director of Mental Performance & Life Skills Education for the Philadelphia Phillies, helping their major league players and rising prospects increase their ability to maximize their mental performance just as they would their physical performance. In this episode of the College Recruiting Weekly podcast, we'll talk with Ceci about: - Why pro teams are focusing more on the mental preparation their players take. - How they scout for the right mental strengths as they evaluate and scout prospects. - What college coaches can do to apply the same principles to their programs, improving how they help their athletes perform, and how they uncover mentally strong prospects for their teams. There are several common instances that college recruiters at all level face some very common, very challenging 'push back' questions from their prospects. You know the ones: Things are going nicely, everything's on schedule, and then your prospects pushes back on what you want, when you want it, and how you want the process to go. Which is fine, because they're going through their difficult decision process, and they need some room to think, right? O.K., maybe a little. But we still want coaches to be in control. On this episode, we talk about some common push back coaches are getting, and how to respond to it all in a better way. We hope it helps! Questions? Email us at dan@dantudor.com. Think hearing a 'no' from a prospect at the end of the process is the end of the game? Wrong. In the age of the decommitments and the transfer portal, the game never ends. That prospect might be back in play in a few weeks, in a year, or in three years. Your job: Create a path for them to come back to you. In this episode, Dan Tudor explains a proven strategy used for the last two decades by select coaches around the country to build a bank of prospects that they can re-recruit. Fascinating, in-depth discussion on this episode! Dan Tudor joins Kebba Tolbert, Assistant Track and Field Coach at Harvard University and a group of coaches he leads regularly in coaching and program development conversations. The topic? Recruiting, and how successful coaches and programs go about recruiting and communicating (and, yes, 'selling') this generation of college student-athlete prospect. It's about an hour in length, and covers several topics, so we hope you enjoy it! To contact Coach Tolbert, or to follow his very informative, helpful X (Twitter) account, connect with him at @kebbat Questions about recruiting, and how Tudor Collegiate Strategies helps coaches win and build their programs more quickly and effectively? If you've watched it, and you're a college coach, you probably love Ted Lasso. The AppleTV series was a huge hit, mainly because of its cast of characters lead by actor Jason Sudekis' portrayal of an American football coach being hired by an English soccer team to be their new leader. Hilarity - along with some drama, self-discovery, and plenty of mishaps - ensues. But for college coaches, are there lessons to be learned? Former college coach and current author and speaker John "Coach Bru" Brubaker returns to talk about what those lessons are following the release of his new book, "The Lasso Way" (which belongs in every college coach's library, in our opinion). To order the book, visit https://coachbru.com/product/the-lasso-way/ Or, buy it on Amazon or at your favorite bookseller. Thanks for listening, Coach! "Why are my prospects taking so long to commit???" What college coach hasn't said that at least once every recruiting year? And yet, without an answer to that question - and a plan to overcome the problem - your program development (and job) might be in jeopardy. So in this episode, Dan Tudor explains why delays are a natural part of their process, and offers some proven strategies on how to overcome it and re-direct their process back towards a decision. Ever feel like it's harder than ever to close your top prospects? You're not alone! The competition for the best talent has never been more intense, which is why we're letting you listen in on a recent conversation Dan Tudor had with one of our clients at Tudor Collegiate Strategies. This coach was getting his numbers, and attracting way more attention than ever before, but was still struggling to close most of his top tier recruits. Listen in on our advice, which also covers what happens before and after asking for the commitment: Assessing their true interest level, executing the right kind of campus visit experience, and more...it's a multi-pronged approach to getting top recruits in the position to want to say yes to you and your program. If you coach college sports, you've probably noticed that this generation you're recruiting and coaching is much, much different than the generations before it. They tend to need more direction. They are much more focused on their mental health. And, for many of them, their anxiety is off the charts. So, how should coaches approach these young student-athletes in a way that brings them into the program, meshes them with your culture, and is still sensitive to their unique needs when they get to campus? Today's guest helps programs, coaches, organizations and businesses do just that. His name is Brian Brown, and he leads the 127 Group, a consulting company that helps athletes discover their weaknesses, and what they can do to overcome them. I happened to overlap Brian's work at a D1 campus who is a client, and wanted to get him on the show to talk about his observations about this generation of student-athletes. You can (and should!) reach out to Brian by visiting his company's website, www.the127group.com, or email him directly at brian@the127group.com. His work is thorough, and many top programs and campuses trust his leadership and successful results with their teams. You can also contact the host of the show by emailing us at dan@dantudor.com. Thanks for listening! Make sure to subscribe, give us a 5-star rating, and share it with your fellow coaches in your department.

Welcome to the Season 8 premier of the College Recruiting Weekly podcast! On this show, we talk about three things that coaches need to remember to focus on as they start the recruiting process for this current class of prospects, and discuss "the theatre of status in recruiting" - what your athlete perceives, and believes, about you. And, how to better manage and define that for them. Join Dan Tudor as he discusses this next level idea with you, and make sure to subscribe to get all of this season's new episodes ready to play right away when they're released! Thanks for listening, Coach.
Coach, how's your summer recruiting going? More importantly: How is your summer planning going as you look ahead to the start of the fall? Both of those topics were brought up by the coach who is the guest on this podcast - he's a basketball coach who called and had questions about the summer, what or what not to do with visits, and planning for the new recruiting class as it relates to handling the volume of recruits that some programs deal with at the start of the process. If you need help with other questions YOU have this summer - or want to access any of the resources we talk about on the podcast - visit dantudor.com or email the host at dan@dantudor.com. Thanks for listening, Coach!
