This is called the Information Age for a reason: more information is more widely available than ever before in human history. If this is the case, then why do facts and information seemingly not matter anymore? Why do we live in an age of "fake news" and "alternative facts" when anyone can discover the truth with a few clicks? We explore all this and more in this episode, check it out!
This is a follow up on our previous episode about millennials and generational differences. We consider why millennials are blamed for "killing" so many industries, where these claims originate, and what's actually causing these huge economic shifts. Enjoy!
This week we talk about productivity and how we stay productive in our academic and professional lives! We have different approaches to staying productive, so check it out! Let us know how you stay productive and what works best for you!
In this episode, we discuss free trade! Why do we trade with other nations? What should our goal be when crafting trade agreements? And what the heck even is a tariff? We discuss all of this, as well as how the U.S. can adapt to a changing economy in the face of manufacturing jobs leaving en masse. Enjoy!
First, we kick off the show with a quick follow-up about our personalities and how we get things done! In the rest of this episode, we tackle one of the most important questions facing society today: why are millennials destroying everything we hold dear? (just kidding). But more seriously, we talk about the stereotypes surrounding millennials and how we can change the conversation around generational divisions. We also look at how millennials differ from older generations as well as from the younger Generation Z. Enjoy!
Hey folks! In this episode, we consider whether pushing for a $15 minimum wage is economically sustainable or if it's fool's gold. We talk about what the underlying goal behind minimum wage hikes should be, some common arguments for and against it, and how it's working in practice. We look at recently released data from Seattle's minimum wage hike (here and here) and try to make sense of the results so far. Here's a cost of living calculator to consider how wage hikes in different regions would play out differently. Let us know what you think!
In our current political climate, both parties love trying to claim the moral highground any chance they get. But do these arguments hold up? Probably not, especially when taking credit or pointing fingers for things that happened long ago. We explain why in this episode! Check out these maps to see how voting patterns have changed over time (note the drastic change in the 1960s!).
In this episode, we reveal our personalities in the Myers-Briggs system and show how our types play out in real life. We also talk about some of our favorite brethren in our types (fictional and real) and wrap up by discussing the cognitive functions for each of our types. Let us know what your type is!  Here's a reference for cognitive functions!

Here's the link to take the test and here's the source to understand the cognitive functions. Enjoy!
Episode 10-March Madness

Episode 10-March Madness

2017-03-1201:02:01

As you prepare to fill out your brackets and celebrate March Madness, we consider how to improve American sports in general and NCAA basketball in particular. Why is our society so obsessed with the "madness" of playoff systems rather than focusing on rewarding the best team? In this episode, we pick apart the NCAA tournament and try to find a better way to reward deserving teams.
Why do politicians try to ban things they don't like?  Moreover, why do so many people think that banning things is an effective way to change other people's behavior?  This week, we explain why banning things just doesn't work and why you should instead focus on reducing demand for the thing you don't like. We explore three specific political topics that relate to this supply and demand problem.  Here are some graphs to help you visualize what we mean when we're talking about reducing supply or demand for something.
In this episode, we tackle one of the most pressing first world problems challenging game theory scholars today.  To do this, we break down what Game Theory is and dive into one of its more well-known manifestations, the Prisoner's Dilemma.  In case you're not familiar with Prisoner's Dilemma, here's a great example.  We hope you enjoy!
We can all agree that Congress is ineffective and dysfunctional, right? So let's kick out all those greedy career politicians and get some new people in there and everything will be fixed! Yeah...about that...we hate to be the bearers of bad news, but term limits might not be the magic potion to solve all of the problems we have with Congress. We explain why in this episode!
Welcome back! In our first episode of the new year, we talk about individual purchases that have changed our lives! From minor household appliances to major tech gadgets, these things can seriously change your daily life for the better. What are your most life-changing purchases? Do you agree with any of ours?
