Moments after being awarded the Architects Medallion at a ceremony held at the NSW Architects Registration Board, we sat down Eric Ye to talk about his ideas, aspirations and practice.
The Architects Medallion has been awarded by the Board since 1924 to a graduate from a NSW school of architecture who has achieved distinction in their studies.
Eric Ye is a graduate from the University of Technology Sydney, and he was awarded not just for his outcomes in design studio, but also for his leadership in the co-creation of the Post- publication, and his inclusive work as a tutor of architecture. On top of that, Eric has received numerous awards, and has featured at the Oslo Triennale. He currently works at Andrew Burges Architects and is a casual academic at UTS.

It was a real privilege to attend Agency 2017, and in this episode we meet some of the students that brought Agency to life. We reveal where the idea of Congress originated, and explore how Agency came about – and why Sydney this year?
What happens when privately-owned apartment buildings need upgrade? Multiple owners - all with their own ideas - can mean it's easier to sell and move, rather than refurbish.
But two Sydney researchers want to change that - and give architects and homeowners the tools they need to co-design a new life for old apartment buildings. We sat down with UNSW's Dr Hazel Easthope and University of Sydney's Dr Sandra Loschke to unpack their vision for a more participatory and sustainable approach to apartment redevelopment - research which is being supported by the NSW ARB. Professor Kristien Ring delivered the 2017 World Architecture Day oration at the 11th annual Sydney Architecture Festival. But while we had her with us, we took the chance to find out more about how 'baugruppe' (or building groups) might work in Australia as a new form of urban community living.
Thanks to our friends at the Old Clare Hotel, we took over the great old board room for our interview.
We love building a better understanding of architecture and design in the community by connecting the public, students, architects and others with information about architecture, design and the world around us.
One way we do this is to prepare teaching aids and resources for schools.
STEAMpop Co-Director and educator, Annette Mauer is a long-time collaborator and friend of the Board and has been instrumental in helping to develop the ARB's suite of teaching tools, are designed to help students use creative thinking for more effective learning.

Professor Kristien Ring - World Architecture Day Global Oration by NSW Architects Registration Board
On 1 September 2017, a new Architects Regulation went live after first inviting submissions from industry and other stakeholders earlier in the year. The new Regulations contain changes to how courses of architecture are accredited in NSW, how Board members are elected, and in the information that must be included in a written agreement prepared by an architect for their client.
