Regulations are Protections. Deregulation is all the rage these days. Regulations are blamed for everything from economic inequality to the financial crisis. On this episode, we explore what it would be like if we accomplished the libertarian acid rain filled wet dream of a deregulated White Man’s paradise. We look at the hard-fought battle for labor laws and the events that finally led to the few workers rights we enjoy today, including the tragic story of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. We discuss many of the regulations the Trump Administration has slaughtered, and with that in mind revisit the stakes of the 2020 Election (with a few choice words for CNN). We tell you why it is not hopeless, but it will be, if good people roll over instead of fight. We lay out the game plan for stopping this backslide into the Dark Ages. Seeing as it is the Fourth and all, we took a look at the Declaration of Independence and noticed a few similarities between what our founders described as the King they called a tyrant from whom they declared their Independence from and our current Commander in Chief. This country elected a Republican president. One who among all his other flaws is the most far right president we have seen in our lifetimes. Thanks to that, we started our week with a dose of Supreme Court sanctioned voter suppression and spiced it up with the death of net neutrality. Within 24 hrs our government said there was a special place in Hell for Canadian PM, Justin Trudeau, and then our Cheeto Dusted Bloviator of a president embraced Kim Jong Un - one of the cruelest dictators in the world. He then proceeded to heap praise on Un like a giddy little boy would his favorite ball player, while swinging his neanderthalic arms. De Niro got a little potty-mouthed at the Tonys (gasp). Jarvaka made 81 million dollars last year alone off deals they made leveraging our government, leveraging our country! Oh yeah, did you hear about the prisons full of traumatized children our country is proudly filling up? Now would be a good time to buy stock in the private prison industry. We talk the science of hate and racism, discuss the scathing UN report on the state of poverty in the US and talk elections! Meanwhile, LGBTQ rights as well as LGBTQ people are being attacked, threatened and killed. The ACLU is looking out for the rights of Immigrants, and, really all of us. We run down the dirty dealings in Congress, and top it all off with a call to action. #RESIST

From trickle down, to a vast propaganda media ministry, to gerrymandering, to the starving of school funds, the gutting of unions, to youth outreach, to voter suppression, to the systematic removal of rights, freedoms, protections, the social safety net and more, the forces hacking away at our life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are well organized, well funded, smart and playing the long game. The Left’s actions tend to be driven by reactions to each new trick the the Right throws at us. Well, not anymore! On Tuesday the 5th, California will have its primary and more will follow throughout the nation. Our vote matters. With the right people in place to win in November we can pull a Mitch McConnell and keep the Hellmouth from opening up over the Supreme Court and Capitol Hill. We have that kind of power! There is much the Resistance is doing but our immediate call to action is to take back our government and flip this country blue! And there is a bunch of stuff in the news that we talk about too. #RESIST

Welcome to Trump’s America. The America we find ourselves in is quickly being shaped by a petty, ignorant, racist madman and his cabal of flying monkeys. He is bolstered and protected by a Republican Party which has worked tirelessly for decades to undermine truth, to foster racism, to suppress minorities in a tireless dedication to preserve the ruling class while squeezing rights and wealth from the middle class and the poor in order to maintain an economic structure that has so perversely tipped the scales in regards to the way wealth is distributed and shared in this county as to have made laughable the notion of the American Dream. It is up to us to turn things around. #resist
