The Two Ways - Psalm 1

The Two Ways - Psalm 1

2020-01-0832:15

It seems like the New Testament is consistent when it says we are saved by faith, NOT works...except when it comes to James 2. James throws us for a loop when he says, "You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone." What does that mean? In this study, we take a look at this verse in its immediate context and the New Testament context to figure it out.
Train Up A Child

Train Up A Child

2019-10-2344:03

You've probably heard Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." It's a challenge to parents to invest spiritual training in their kids so their kids will stick to the faith when they grow up. But, is that really what that verse says and what that verse means? This week, we'll find out. We apologize for the poor recording quality. Sometimes that just happens!
In John 14:14, Jesus says, "Anything you ask in my name, I will do it." Many popular preachers say that means that you can receive anything from Jesus if you ask by faith, whether it's health, wealth, prosperity, success, joy, comfort, or anything else. But, is that really what Jesus mean? In this lesson, we take a look at John 14:14 in its original context and compare it to other passages in the New Testament to see what this verse truly means.
If My People

If My People

2019-10-0245:39

When American Christians look at the moral condition of our nation, we often are perplexed at how far from God we have come. A common verse that is mentioned at these moments is 2 Chronicles 7:14, and we encourage one another to pray for our country so that God will "heal our land." But, is that really what this verse means? If we pray, will God heal America? What about Sudan? What about iran? What about China? Will God heal those countries if Christians pray? In this week's WEBS, we get to the roots of 2 Chronicles 7:14 to see what it was originally intended to say, and we still answer the question, "Should Christians pray for their countries?"
Do Not Judge

Do Not Judge

2019-09-2543:10

People often react to any kind of criticism with "Don't judge me!" As Christians, we're often asked, "Didn't Jesus say not to judge people?" Well...didn't he? This lesson takes a look at Jesus command, "Do not judge," in Matthew 7:1 in its full context, and in the context of the rest of Scripture.
Jeremiah 29:11, says “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you, not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.” It is one of the most popular verses in the Bible, but it’s also one most taken out of context. What was the original context of the verse and what can we learn from it?
You've probably seen people say, "With God all things are possible!" in relation to sporting events, being healed, overcoming financial struggles and lots of other things. But, does that verse REALLY mean that ANYTHING is possible with God? Do you only have to have enough faith to believe? In this lesson, we take a look at the context of the verse, Jesus' conversation with the Disciples, and the overall message of Scripture.
You've probably heard people quote Psalm 46:10, "Be still and know that I am God." It's usually meant as an encouragement to Christians to trust God in the midst of a struggle, or to stop worrying and rest in God's care. But, is that really what the verse's original meaning was? This lesson takes a look at Psalm 46:10 in the original context of Psalm 46, and in the context of the rest of Scripture
