Throughout Scripture, beginning in the Old Testament, we see references to the Holy Spirit. What is our relationship with the Holy Spirit. How should we relate to him in connection with God the Father and Jesus Christ? The Holy Spirit is not to be treated as a third wheel in our relationship with God. The Holy Spirit is a part of the Godhead, and to operate in our life without the Holy Spirit is to operate not at our fullest potential. One of our goals as followers of Christ should be to live a spirit led, spirit filled life.

The body of Christ, His church, should be a powerful witness because it is a diverse body of people drawn together in unity by grace, forgiveness and love, devoted to God's word, God's presence, prayer, generosity and one another.

As followers of Christ, we are empowered to be his witnesses. Don’t let the reasons you think you can’t outweigh the opportunities all around you.

Jesus told his followers he was leaving the Holy Spirit to empower them with boldness to love and reach a world that hated them because they hated him.

What happened at the event we celebrate called Easter actual begun a movement we call the church, an assembly of people who are followers of Christ who were given a mission to transform the world. The timetable for this mission is unknown, but what we do know is the now what for them, is the same now what for us. Over these next several weeks at Bethel Worship Center we’re going to look at what happened after the death and resurrection of Jesus and answer the question - Now What? The church is a movement. Movements move and movements cause change. The church is meant to be an agent of transformation guided by the Holy Spirit. That’s exactly what the early church was and that’s what we are called to be as well. We are called by God and empowered by His Spirit to be His witnesses.
Easter 2024

Easter 2024

It's the time we call Easter. Everything that happened around the death and resurrection of Jesus was for you. Someone's story within this story may relate to your story more than you know. No matter the name of the person you relate to the most, there is a name above every name, that covers every thing, and his name is Jesus. No matter your story, what Jesus did through his death and resurrection can be the climax that changes your outcome.
When we live under the ethos of Jesus we accept that he is on the throne, we are not; He decides what's true, we do not.
When you live under the ethos of Jesus you don’t raise a fist in anger against the world, instead you take up a cross in love.
Our life must be centered around a fruitful relationship with the Heavenly Father, embracing his son Jesus Christ, centered around his authority not our own.
Understanding the ethos of Jesus starts with your understanding of who Jesus is. Who do you say he is?
Jeremy is the FCA Representative for our county and a friend of Pastor Javin. Known by most of his friends as J Ray, he shared a messaged from Matthew 4:1-11 on temptation and our ability to run to Christ to overcome the battles we face.
Ethos is defined as a characteristic spirit of a culture, an era or a community as manifested in its beliefs and aspirations. As we get ready for Easter, we will explore how when Jesus encountered the culture of his day, he established a new culture that should be lived out amongst his followers. Jesus defined the way that Jesus’s disciples would live out the blessing of being his follower; the way that the community would be identified as followers of Christ through his teaching of the beatitudes.
Our decision to either receive Christ as Savior and Lord or reject him is more than just a simple decision. That decision has a destination.
There is an enemy who is out to destroy the testimony of Jesus and keep people away from faith in God, but that enemy has already been defeated.
In the book of revelation we see that the power the world believes it holds is all in fact an illusion, because there is only one who holds ultimate power in this world and in our lives. Before you see anything else in Revelation you have to see Jesus because he is the one our faith is grounded in and the anchor of our hope.
Our waiting for Christ’s return must be filled with active anticipation not passive pandering.
Let go of past regret and present distractions, and grab hold of the call God has for you now and moving forward.
While the new year is typically about adding new things—new goals, new habits, and new routines—this two week series will challenge us to let go. To let go of things that weigh us down, regrets that hold us back, and destructive mindsets that are grounded in lies instead of in God’s truth. This week we discuss the challenge to let go of your old nature in order to embrace the new God wants to give you and call you to.
