In this episode I talk with Chase Tibbs about this story, his podcast, and why he passionate about understanding and acknowledging all the different aspects of capitalism in America and questions we should asking about capitalism in light of our faith.  In his podcast, "Faith & Capital," Chase reflects on the theological and ethical implications of the system and social relations of capitalism. Chase is also a socialist and we get into thoughts on alternative ways of thinking about America's economic system. Justin is an Atheist I met who volunteers with The Atheist Experience. We got on the phone (or the internet) and talked about what it means to him to be an atheist, dispelling some stereotypes about atheists and atheism, and then some deep questions about love and meaning.  Early on in our conversation it became clear we both are for fighting against and us/them mentality. As a Christian, I think it can be easy to think of atheists as the enemy, and so I hope this conversation helps shed light on why atheists can be nice people too, why we probably agree on much more than we disagree, and why its good to have conversations with those whom you disagree. Justin Cook and I are both part of the RCC family. Justin endearingly says RCC isn't his church, but it's his family. And anyone who knows Justin knows this to be true. There aren't a lot of people I know like Justin, who love others so freely like him. In this episode Justin shares his story of growing up in a cult, how he was kicked out, and how he ended up at RCC.  ________ Credits This episode was produced and edited by Chris Randazzo Theme Song written by Marco Randazzo   Contact FB: @churchovercoffee Insta: @churchovercoffee Twitter: @churchpodcast Email: churchovercoffee@gmail.com Give Feedback Here.   Super Team Media 🤘🏼 Church Over Coffee is a STM Original Podcast.   Super Team Media helps potential podcasters launch their podcasts with confidence. Church Over Coffee, an original podcast by Super Team Media. Hosted by Chris Randazzo. Chris is curious about the church. Sometimes passionate. Church Over Coffee for the last couple years has been a way to talk to others about their experience in the church. The new vision for church over coffee is for normal people who are curious about the church getting together and talking about the church. We want to ask questions, discuss answers, and figure out what it means for our real lives.  Questions We'll Ask: What is the church? How do we participate in the church? How do we participate AS the church? Why care at all? What is the church getting wrong? What requirements are there to be part of the church? Target Audience: if you're curious about the church, go to church, on a break from the church, have church hurt, if you've given up on the church, if you ask why care about the church? In general, if you like to ask "why?" New Episodes will air every Sunday. This podcast is less about critique, and more about encouragement, inspiration, and reconstruction. _________________________________ Contact FB: @churchovercoffee Share Your Feedback HERE   Credits Produced, recorded, and edited by Chris Randazzo, with help from Marco Randazzo Theme Song written by Marco Randazzo Special thanks to Taylor Hendrick (co-host for 2 years)!    Super Team Media 🤘🏼 Church Over Coffee is a STM Original Podcast. ⛪️ / ☕️ Church Over Coffee is a podcast about the church. We talk to people about their experience in the church and with faith, and we make space for conversations that are hard to talk about, but need to be shared. We aren’t experts, but our hope is that you would join us in these conversations, process your faith alongside us, and grow with us as we learn from each other. One story at a time, one conversation at at time, we want to move from isolation to connection. Season 2 Episode 3! In this episode we talk with Ike Ubasineke who hosts is Nigerian-American, a co-worker of mine at Booster, and we hear about his story and experiences growing up in different church spaces. Episode 11: Bill Pinto

2018-02-0901:22:33

We’re so honored to have Bill Pinto as our guest for this episode. He’s a friend, mentor, and neighbor to the show. Bill is a Cobb County native, pastoral counselor, lawyer and on staff at Chris's church — River City Church.   He shares his story with us, we get into some life-in-process conversations, and we answer a listener’s question about prayer! Plus... Bill originates his now-famous "half-gallon of ice cream" metaphor! We talk about ice cream for a while… metaphorically speaking.
Jordan is a friend of ours and a pastor at River City Church in Smyrna, GA (where Chris goes to church). We talk about Jordan's experience being a pastor, his journey through not liking church for a while, and much more!  Church Website: http://www.rivercitysmyrna.com/ ________Jordan's Book List_________ Anything by A.W. Tozer (Knowledge of the Holy is my favorite) The Mission of God’s People by Christopher Wright (this is the one we discussed on air that’s a little easier to read than the Mission of God) (Re)Aligning with God by Brian Russell (uses a missional hermeneutic for approaching the biblical narrative) Resident Aliens by Hauerwas and Willimon (a great book on the nature and identity of the church) Everyday Church by Chester and Timmis (easy read on the identity of the church) Community by Brad House (pragmatic book on church small groups) Shrink by Tim Suttle (a good look at how the heart of church is small discipleship over big programs) They Found the Secret by Edman (great book that explores the experiences of popular historic Christians and their experiences with the Holy Spirit) _______________________ Credits: Music by Marco Randazzo Produced by Chris Randazzo

Bryson is a former pastor who processes with us why and how he left the church and what is has been like to navigate faith over the course of his life. We talk about church history, not having certainty, and everything in between. Find Bryson on twitter at @sbryson176.
