This is the Keynote Speech I delivered at my Alma Mater Whittier College’s Black Graduation. It was such an honor to be asked to deliver the commencement speech. I shared 3 of the 7 lessons from a book I am working on titled, “Your Future Starts Now, 7 Things I Would Tell My Younger Self.”
Taken from the Selling In Color Sales and communication system, JaMarr breaks down 6 ways to close and maintain business with prospects and customers. Visit sellingincolor.com to learn more.
How is your past affecting you today? During this micro-training, I discuss the idea that a person’s history is not a collection of past events, rather it is your thoughts about your past events that make up your history. In addition, those thoughts drive your emotions which affect your current and future thoughts and decisions. The amazing fact is that we all have the power to change our thoughts which changes our emotions which reshapes our past and ultimately drives our future. The question is, how are you thinking about your past and are those thoughts helping or hurting your present and future? Just remember that we all have the incredible gift of being able to reshape our thoughts about our past to create a more fulfilling, positive and successful future! Some people rent a storage facility to hold the items they perceive as valuable. Ironically, at some point, the price they pay to rent the storage facility becomes more than the value of what’s actually being stored. The same can be true for our minds. At one point, we stored thoughts and beliefs such as guilt, anger, bitterness, regret, frustration, angst, procrastination etc. that may have had a purpose and value at the time, but the mental and emotional price we pay to keep those thoughts and beliefs have far outweighed the value they once had. During this 2 min talk, I discuss the concept that maybe it’s time to de-clutter your mind and shut down the mental storage facility that holds the thought and beliefs that no longer have value or serve a purpose for you.
Last night I felt very honored to be one of the invited speakers at an Interfaith Iftar Dinner. The theme (and motto of the organization) was “LOVE FOR ALL AND HATRED FOR NONE.” It was a celebration of all religions and cultures. In a world where so many people are quick to reject or “tolerate” those that are different, it was an amazing experience to celebrate, learn from and honor everyone equally, despite our so called differences. I pray that the world eliminates rejection of others, graduates from mere tolerance of others and moves to celebrating and learning from each other’s unique perspectives, cultures and religious practices.
This is a great mini coaching on the idea that whenever you win, someone else “fails.” The perspective is how we should handle winning and loosing while understanding that we all experience both and someone is on the other end when we do.

During this 2 min sales training tip, I talk about the importance of practicing how you want to perform. In other words, the better that you practice your sales technique, objection handling etc. the more effective you will be when you are actually performing in front of your customers and prospects.
These are the 4 things everyone should know about your Entreprenurial business.
Have you ever bought something and later had to explain or justify the purchase to your spouse or significant other? Sometimes they get behind your decision and other times you end up in the Doghouse! Sales works the same way. There is someone that the "decision maker" has to confer with, explain or attempt to justify their buying decision before or after they make the purchase. One of the keys to sales success is to help the decision maker positively and confidently explain the product or service you are selling to the person that they need to get buy in from. In this episode, I explain the importance of doing that as well as 2 steps to help you do it effectively. How do you handle the situation when you disagree or don’t share the same beliefs as someone you interact with. Our first instinct is to reject their opinion. Our second and politically correct approach is to “tolerate” them. During this brief audio lesson I provide a perspective on why rejection or tolerating people is a limiting and detriment approach for both parties involved. What I discuss is the life changing power of Celebrating those with different thoughts, ideals, believe and perspectives than we have. You will discover how Celebrating people with have a profoundly positive affect on your life.
This is a funny story about how we control the thoughts and behaviors we bring to work everyday.
A two minute lesson on the importance of having a beginner’s mindset in sales and life.
