A good old post came up about what discipline is and it all has to do with a voice that each of us has. Someone new that I just started following - Psyche Wizard (@PsycheWizard) The key is to listen to that voice - but then it would involve some action behind listening to it too. This is a great mindset to let yourself connect with. Thanks for listening. Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts a...
I’ve been going to Physical Therapy lately - all from my recent surgery & it’s been a tough go, but I’m realizing a few things. First - I’ve come a long way from where I was before the surgery. I’m older now (of course) and there are things that used to come easy to me, but now I need to focus and work harder at. I also was able to have a new “view” while on the table at PT getting treatment. They have these couple of skylights in the ceiling where I get worked on. While...
Good stuff here from Todd Whitaker (@ToddWhitaker) where he mentions about opening new doors. He shares a great reminder for all of us to take with us - “old ways won’t open up new doors.” It got me thinking about the old adage that if I keep doing things the same way all the time and I expect a different result, that’s really a pathway leading towards losing my mind. I think it’s something I need to take to heart a bit more and look for ways of learning new information abou...
Saw this post and again, it caught my eye. Looking at this statement, reminds me that I go out of my way to find things like this. I think it’s part of what being a lifelong learner is all about. I found this post from a Steve Collins (@TeachHoopsBBall) and he said: “The Secret Ingredient to a Winning Attitude: 1.) Humility - be teachable at every step 2.) Optimism - Believe in the win, even before the game starts.” I like this combination - not just for sports but for...
I saw this post that caught my eye as not only it had a great & simple thought, but the artwork that went with it was awesome!! It’s from Mindful Maven - (@mindfulmaven_) and it simply says “good or bad, you will get what you give.” The artwork is a picture of someone throwing a boomerang. Easy to understand and much more important to implement into our lives. What we put out there, does indeed come back to us in many different ways. Thanks for listening. Please take a f...
I stumbled across Alan Stein Jr.’s newsletter HERE - and he had a post there about something we hear about all the time… The Process. He reminds us that for what we want in life, it’s all about “… the mindsets, habits, routines, discipline, approach, outlook, and ACTION STEPS that matter most.” Those are things that we control and have a say in for ourselves. There are two powerful questions that I need to start asking myself, one in the morning and one at night. I’m glad you are ...
I found this post from a former Lion - Dan Orlovsky (former Detroit Lion QB) - (@danorlovsky7), who shared the simple thought: “People who copy will always be one step behind.” HUGE reminder for me of my days as a young student, cutting corners… not doing my own work and I knew at the time it wasn’t the way to go, but I eventually learned the value of doing my own work. Today - it’s about building our own authentic life. We see “copy cats” all the time and we know that’s not...
I found this great post - awesome & simple reminder from (@selfcarecanvas) - “Be patient. Sometimes you have to go through the worst to get the best.” This goes hand in hand with me going through my physical therapy right now and I’m working on teaching myself (and getting help from the PT guy too) to get back to basics on being healthy and strong again. It’s hitting the reset button to get this done and to move onto better things. Which is a great reminder of everyday l...
It’s been awhile since I shared something from Melanie Korach (@melanie_korach) and today I found a great reminder for all of us. Here is what she said: “Everyone is fighting a battle, and a little kindness makes these battles easier to fight. For fighting battles alone is never easy, but every act of kindness is a reminder that someone is not alone after all. It could be the one thing that encourages them to hold on and keep going.” Just about every day I see and hear examp...
Getting reacquainted with one of the long-time experts in the Personal Development & Self Improvement area - John Maxwell shares some powerful reminders here. This is from his “Daily Reader” - where I have it on my Kindle App., and this comes from May 20 - “Taking A Look In The Mirror”. He helps to remind us that “all the significant battles are waged within the self.” To take this on, we need to look at ourselves (in the mirror helps) to realize we are the ones that act...
Multiple levels of teaching coming from Alan Stein Jr. here. (@alansteinjr). First of all he reminds us that we are responsible to define our own success. Success looks different to different people. It’s not a one size fits all. The second one he shared is directly connected to success. Life is all about looking for our inner peace and connecting the things we hold near and dear to our hearts, those things we really do value. Don’t forget to start looking ...
Connecting with one of the masters in the are of personal development - Mr. Ed Mylett (@edmylett). One of his latest posts got me thinking - some deep and reflective thoughts, hope they do the same for you. Ed mentions “Discipline is critical because it allows you to… 1) See the BIGGER PICTURE, 2) Develop the right skills and talents, 3) Focus on the PROCESS, not the outcome, 4) Be insanely CONSISTENT, 5) and minimize impacts on your output when you’re not motivated.” So muc...
I recently found this list of some of the Greatest Gifts you can give away - from Coach AJ (@coachajkings) and he starts it out with this: “14 of the greatest gifts that you can give today. The smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest differences. Generosity is the habit of giving freely without expecting anything.” These 14 sure do get me thinking about things I can do for others, but also for myself. It also reminds me of the fact that I need to keep working on these...
Jon Gordon (@JonGordon11) comes out with great content every single day. Someone like him who is devoted to making a difference with people with not only the 28 + books he has written, but also what he’s building with others - he’s one that you want to be connected with. In this post, Jon puts the question out there - why are we here? I love this point he brings up in looking to answer that question: “To go through the motions and be average or put your heart and soul ...
Saw a few powerful posts from Alan Stein Jr. (@alansteinjr) and this one is a gret reminder for all of us. “Your life will reflect what you emphasize daily.” As we all get older, we need to remind ourselves that what we focus on, that’s where our energy flows. It’s up to us. Nobody else to choose what we focus on. Another reminder for us that our 6 inches between our ears, is the most valuable space there is. Guard it!! Thanks for listening. Ple...
A good friend and mentor of mine, Coach Rich Popp came through with another thought to chew on a bit - “The older I get, the simpler life is. 1. Get along with others. 2. Give 100% in all you do. 3. Make well thought out and educated decisions. Yes, simple. Life is good. Peace.” Simple for sure to understand, yet I (maybe you too) still have to put effort into these and it’s not always easy, since other things always seem to get in the way...
Found another great post and it goes with a recent theme, about always looking to get better. There are tons of great lessons out there for us to learn from, be reminded of, and to implement into our lives. This one is from a big voice from the past, William James reminds us about the importance of the fact that we get to choose our own attitude. This is for all of us. Thanks for listening. Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, als...
I saw a post recently from Coach AJ (@coachajkings) where he shared some thoughts from George Kittle, and he said, "I'm a big believer that you surround yourself with good people which brings the best out of you." Surround yourself with people who: • Want what's best for you. • Believe in you. • Challenge you. • Support you. • Inspire you. This is something we all can not only learn from, but also we can look to be the same for others too. Imagine having a bunch of people in your life, ...
I recently got the chance to listen to another fabulous & powerful podcast from Ben Newman - The Burn Podcast. Click HERE for this episode. He was sharing some golden coaching lessons where for him was having Ed Mylett asking the hard questions to him and wondering am I doing the right things. Ben said “...we are never finished. It’s an “own it” mentality every day! It’s understanding that your success in life is long obedience in the same direction with aggr...
Alan Stein Jr. (@AlanSteinJr) comes through again with a list of things for us to just kind of let go of. He’s right, when you start looking at some of these things he brings up - it does change our “game” and how we play it. This is a powerful Top 10 style list - find the image over on my Twitter / X feed and on my Facebook page too. If you start with only one of these, I think you will find some peace and joy a bit more often. Thanks for listening. Please take ...
