It's no secret that when life gets tough, the thoughts we think can get wild. The wilderness is a vulnerable place and vulnerable places often call for more vigilance, discipline, and intention. In challenges, discomfort, the unknown, and the unforeseen, it is vital that we cultivate and maintain a disciplined thought life. Every thought we think is not our own and is definitely not always beneficial. So today's episode is about resetting the foundation for what thoughts are allowed to stay and which ones must go. Tune in, and learn how to set boundaries, overcome the enemy's power of suggestion and develop a healthy, abundant thought life, even in the midst of the wilderness.Connect with the Walking Well PodcastInstagram- @WalkingWellPodcastFacebook- Walking Well Podcast with Gilon MartsWebsite- https://www.gilonmarts.com/podcastWatch on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@walkingwellpodcastwithgilo784

Prayer

Prayer

2023-05-3121:10

Let's talk about prayerlessness. It is so easy to find yourself in the Wilderness refusing to talk to God or expecting God to answer your prayers. Prayerlessness is often the result of a deeply disappointed soul that simply stops asking and stops hoping for anything more than what will be. But not only is that a position of defeat, it is also a surrendering of our identity and authority. Prayer is transformative and reminds us of who we are and Who is on our side. We desperately need to be reminded of that in dry places. So let us pray big, bold, brave prayers to a God Who still hears and sees us in a wilderness place. Let us become mature sons and daughters who refuse to be quelled into quiet. Let us travel confidently through what the enemy means to harm us with and instead become armed with strength, Truth, and Grace.Connect with the Walking Well PodcastInstagram- @WalkingWellPodcastFacebook- Walking Well Podcast with Gilon MartsWebsite- https://www.gilonmarts.com/podcastWatch on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@walkingwellpodcastwithgilo784

This one is for the down and outs, the bedraggled, and the ones who are showing up technically but not really. Dry, discouraging places can really take it out of us, but that's not their purpose. They are an opportunity to lay down what no longer fits to step into who we were meant to be. But for that chrysalis of a process to begin we have to agree to participate fully in the season, showing up with our hearts in our hands. Faith. Belief. Naked, shaking trust that God is who He says He is and will still do exactly what He said is how we show up. It's how we participate. Listen in as we discuss participating in the maturing that God intends to happen in the wilderness!Connect with the Walking Well PodcastInstagram- @WalkingWellPodcastFacebook- Walking Well Podcast with Gilon MartsWebsite- https://www.gilonmarts.com/podcastWatch on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@walkingwellpodcastwithgilo784
Time

Time

2023-05-1513:27

Tip #1- Give it time. When seasons change on us it can take time to get our bearings, settle in, and be able to hear what exactly God is saying. Often times we fight the discomfort of the new and unfamiliar because we just want the discomfort to go away. But I would contend that in easing into this new thing God is doing and allowing what is to unfold over time, you will begin to see that God is in fact up to something. Wilderness seasons require that you surrender yourself to the timing of the season- you can't rush through it or past it. You must simply journey through. But take heart! The time spent allows God to do his best work- seeding things in and helping other things to fall off. This is important work that can only happen in time.Connect with the Walking Well PodcastInstagram- @WalkingWellPodcastFacebook- Walking Well Podcast with Gilon MartsWebsite- https://www.gilonmarts.com/podcastWatch on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@walkingwellpodcastwithgilo784
Welcome to season 7 of the Walking Well Podcast! First things first- THANK YOU FOR WAITING! Season 7 is my little field guide to surviving and thriving in Wilderness places. Consider this episode a prequel because before we get into the how-to's we need to first establish a mutual understanding.  And that is this: Whenever you find yourself in a place of uncertainty, disappointment, not knowing, not able to hear/feel/discern God, etc. a posture of Hope is a non-negotiable.Hope is the positive expectation of good. If we're going to make it to the other side of places that feel dry, hard, and foreign, we must first believe the wilderness is in fact not forever, despite how everlasting it may feel. Hope is how we get through. Believing that the sun will rise again and bring goodness with it is the attitude, the discipline, we must commit to. Listen in to hear how to develop the habit of Hope! Connect with the Walking Well PodcastInstagram- @WalkingWellPodcastFacebook- Walking Well Podcast with Gilon MartsWebsite- https://www.gilonmarts.com/podcastWatch on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@walkingwellpodcastwithgilo784

Do What You Know To Do

Do What You Know To Do

2022-05-1739:45

I'm going to be honest, the last thing you want to do is the thing you need to do. When life is throwing a curveball or ten, we tend to quietly (or not so quietly) tap out if nowhere else but on the inside. We disengage from many of the helpful things because they can just feel too much. But in this way we stop showing up for ourselves in a way that would otherwise get us to the other side of a pretty uncomfortable season. This episode is the equivalent of showing up on your first day back in the gym after a hiatus. We're going to do the things. And I am here to push you on. #GilonTheeTrainerThe ground level stuff is the stuff. Doing the things you already know you ought (cuz I don't believe in shoulding ourselves) to do, those foundational things, are the baby steps to moving through and creating momentum in funky spaces. So listen in as we talk through the things that help us get to the other side!Connect with the Walking Well PodcastInstagram- @WalkingWellPodcastFacebook- Walking Well Podcast with Gilon MartsWebsite- https://www.gilonmarts.com/podcastWatch on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@walkingwellpodcastwithgilo784
INTENTIONS

INTENTIONS

2022-05-1027:25

Intentions. That  can sound woo-wooey but the truth of the matter is if you are not setting an intention you are headed in no direction in particular. You're a wanderer. And no shade to my nomads but sometimes the wandering life in wilderness spaces is really just our response to being overwhelmed. We stop making decisions because we can feel so tossed by life that it seems better for all involved if we stop trying.BUT! That's quitting- if no where else but in our minds. Intentions allow us to take dominion in both little and big ways that matter and add up. Intentions ensure that we keep our head in the game and our hearts in the fight. Listen in as we discuss the ways we can use setting our intentions to gain the momentum we so desperately need in tough seasons!Connect with the Walking Well PodcastInstagram- @WalkingWellPodcastFacebook- Walking Well Podcast with Gilon MartsWebsite- https://www.gilonmarts.com/podcastWatch on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@walkingwellpodcastwithgilo784

Psalm 89 Encouragement

Psalm 89 Encouragement

2021-12-1433:36

Hey! It's been a minute. Life, amiright? This is a special pop-in episode to remind you to stay encouraged. The year is wrapping up and after the year we collectively shared and the year that you may have muscled your way through, I think we could all use this reminder: God is still Who He says He is. He is still God with us, still God for us, and very much so still God in us.So listen in as we just take a minute to remember and remind ourselves that we are neither forgotten or alone, not abandoned or forsaken. We are still more than conquerors, still overcomers, and still God's favorite! Take a deep breath and dust yourself off. Let's finish strong and in faith!Connect with the Walking Well PodcastInstagram- @WalkingWellPodcastFacebook- Walking Well Podcast with Gilon MartsWebsite- https://www.gilonmarts.com/podcastWatch on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@walkingwellpodcastwithgilo784
One of the most difficult aspects of life is its unpredictable nature. But one of the most beautiful and surprising things about life is also that unpredictability. What can often rob us from seeing the beauty of the unpredictability is our own resistance to the change of pace and natural rhythm and flow life may be taking, no matter how we expected, predicted or foresaw it playing out. Cathy Jackson joins the podcast to share the pearls of wisdom she has learned as she has navigated life's twists and turns. She discusses challenges to being open, oddly packaged opportunities, and how to remain open to what God may be doing so you can experience the fulness of all that the good life has to offer.
