“Relax and trust the timing of your life...Just don’t forget to appreciate who you are now.” — Ruben ChavezWelcome to the year 2020! One of my New Year Resolutions was to abstain from social media. You read that right: No Facebook, no Instagram, or Twitter for the next 365 days. Well...I already broke that resolution to share that I am auntie of my first nephew! Not only is it a new year, but it is also a new decade. Before I got off social media (for five whole days), many of my friends posted pictures of themselves in 2009 or 2010 alongside their pics from 2019. Though the challenge showed tremendous growth for many of them, it was a reminder to me of some of the devastating events of the past 10 years. In this episode, learn the deets of why I did not want to do the #decadechallenge. Take notes as I share some of the gems I’ve learned that will help you level up in the new year and to achieve your goals. Finally, hear why I changed my personal social media handle. For complete show notes for this episode, visit https://www.ladiesnightpodcast.com/episodes/s5e7/decadechallengeFB: www.facebook.com/lnpodcast/IG: www.instagram.com/lnpodcast/WEB: www.ladiesnightpodcast.comEMAIL: hello@ladiesnightpodcast.com
Gotta Go THROUGH It!

Gotta Go THROUGH It!

“The best way OUT is always THROUGH.” — Robert FrostAfter hearing this for most of my reproductive years, I reached a point where I gave up on traditional medicine. I avoided talking about what was bothering me during my annual exams. I pushed away people who were the closest to the issue. Once I relocated to SoCal, however, I had no choice but to see a doctor because the symptoms had gotten worse as the year progressed. Without going into too many details, I would learn that my symptoms were probably a result of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Wow! I finally got an answer and found relief in an instant. Now, I can make informed choices to improve my life!By the end of this episode, I hope that you have the courage to face your money, health, and relationships from a position of power knowing that you are more than equipped to do it. “Thank you for taking a chance on me!” — The Future ShavonneDuring my final weeks in Dallas, I attempted to land jobs and find other means to fund the rest of the #VonneVoyage to California. As you will hear in this very transparent episode, I did make it to San Diego, but not without a period of uncertainty. At the peak of my growing anxiety, I decided to pause. I took a deep breath. I did what the younger version of me learned to do to cope with life and that was to WRITE! I encouraged myself by imagining the gratitude my future self would have because the present me kept going. I spoke hope into her. I spoke to the part of her that was still hurt by losing opportunities that would have suffocated the possibility of the #VonneVoyage had everything gone right.Maybe you are at a similar crossroads between who you used to be and what you can become. At this point, it can feel as if you’ve stepped outside of the box enough or maybe the box has nice pillows. By the end of this episode, however, I hope that you write a letter from your future self and begin to take the steps to become her (or him). Stay encouraged! For complete show notes for this episode, visit https://www.ladiesnightpodcast.com/episodes/s5e5/letter-from-future-selfFB: www.facebook.com/lnpodcast/IG: www.instagram.com/lnpodcast/WEB: www.ladiesnightpodcast.comEMAIL: hello@ladiesnightpodcast.com
