Nick Carver is a working photographer and photography instructor based in Southern California with over eighteen years shooting experience and a professional career spanning more than a decade. Although his teaching and commercial work hinges primarily on digital photography, his passion is fueled by a love for analog film and creating fine art prints. Nick has sought to educate, entertain, and inspire other photographers both in the classroom and through his YouTube videos where he takes viewers “on location” or into the lab to see what happens behind the lens when a photo is created. When he’s not teaching aspiring amateurs or working on an architectural photoshoot you’ll likely find him peering at the ground glass of a panoramic view camera in the deserts of the American Southwest. If you were to make a list of reasons a formal Art/photography education is valuable at costs upwards of tens of thousands of dollars, I truly believe that if you gave Ibarionex Perello's The Candid Frame podcast, Brookes Jensen's Lenswork podcast and personal practice-time/effort in your craft the same level of commitment and expectation you'd give toward the formal education costing all that money, then you'd be able to check off most if not all the exact same boxes justifying the high priced education. And these guys give you all this for free! when my face isn't next to the word "poor" in the dictionary anymore I'll definitely be pitching in what I can to help the little bit of crowd funding going on for The Candid Frame and Lenswork but unfortunately for now I can only encourage others to do so, if possible. If not and you don't know much about these podcasts, still, you should definitely be listening. They're truly producing high quality content that is entertaining, educational

Technology has allowed enterprising people like Ibarionex to take their interests and share them with others. Ibarionex has taken it one step further and provided insightful interviews with some of his favorite photographers. The passion for the work shines through with great questions and an intimate look at the photographers work. It is certainly worth a listen. Hearing photographers talk about their work is like a mini lesson in photography that could be indispensable to your own work.

Not a "how-to" or even a "why-to" - more of a "doing it now" podcast with successful photographers. The Candid Frame features interviews with photographers at the top of their game like Vincent Versace, or Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalists, or even legends whose images have made (or recorded) history. Not every photographer interviewed will be doing the type of work that I like to do, but every show has captured my attention in a different way. The experiences and philosophies shared are fascinating to me as I find my way in my craft. Extremely valuable (and entertaining) to anyone interested in photography.
