DEADPOOL! This movie is too funny to even try to sum up here, just give the show a listen!
Well, that is the end of the Fox era of X-Men and we say good riddance! This movie is very confusing and we didn't want to spend a lot of time discussing it. But don't be brought down by our negativity, because next time we discuss Deadpool 1 & 2 and it's a blast!Don't forget to email us at funveepodcast@gmail.com and tell us your suggestions for what we should cover next. Directed By: Simon Kinberg (wrote X3 where they already did the Phoenix storyline! produced a lot of good things, this is only thing he has directed) Budget: $200 MM USA Gross: $65   (boxofficemojo has been bought by imdb and changed!)WW Gross:  $252Tomatometer: 23%
Bryan Singer continues his retelling of the X-Men universe by going WAAAAAAAAAAY back to ancient Egypt and resurrecting some blue dude! This movies definitely has shades of Stargate (1994) and The Mummy (1999) with a sprinkle of History Channel's Ancient Aliens thrown in ;-)  Matt kinda liked it while Byron was the more typical viewer giving it a decidedly low rating. Enjoy!Directed By: Bryan Singer Budget: $178 MMUSA Gross: $155 MMWW Gross:  $543 MMTomatometer: 47%Wolverine: 58First class: 87Xmen1: 81Xmen2: 85Xmen3: 57The wolverine: 71Days of future past: 91Apocalypse: 47Dark pheonix: 23Logan: 93IMDb Plot Summary:  In the 1980s the X-Men must defeat an ancient all-powerful mutant, En Sabah Nur, who intends to thrive through bringing destruction to the world. Random trivia:   Although not in the movie, Sir Patrick Stewart jokingly informed Bryan Singer that he would be willing to play Mystique, should Jennifer Lawrence "start playing up." He said: "I am so ready to be naked, painted blue, and the world is ready for it too."
We finally get to to what most people think is the BEST of the franchise! It's a whopper with the two casts coming together in the "Avengers of X-Men".   Bryan Singer is back and as Byron aptly points out, he reboots his baby even if just a little softly. Time travel is a thing for consciousness (conscious, conscience..?) and we see those weird bone claws again...enjoy!Directed By: Bryan Singer (first time since X2)Budget: $200 MMUSA Gross: $234WW Gross:  $738Tomatometer: 91% Wolverine: 58First class: 87Xmen1: 81Xmen2: 85Xmen3: 57The wolverine: 71Days of future past: 91Apocalypse: 47Dark pheonix: 23Logan: 93IMDb Plot Summary: In 2023, the entire human race is on the brink of extinction. Sentinels, originally created to kill mutants now hunt all of mankind. The remaining survivors cannot stand against the onslaught of the Sentinel army. In order to save the future, Wolverine is sent back to 1973 in order to stop the war before it even starts. Random trivia:  Quicksilver's slow-motion sequence was filmed with mostly practical visual effects (high-speed photography and stunt rigs), with CGI used only for the objects in mid-air.
Yup, it happened already! Check for yourself:https://isspidermanbackinthemcuyet.com/
That's right listeners, we won't be seeing Spider-Man in the MCU again soon :-(  Disney and Sony couldn't work out their differences to see who could get more of this pie and so they broke it for us! Oh well, Tom Holland drops by the show to tell us "it's all still going to be amazing".  Take a look at some of the sources we reference in this discussion and don't forget to keep checking this one regularly - https://isspidermanbackinthemcuyet.com/https://comicbook.com/marvel/2019/03/21/disney-fox-merger-updated-diagram-what-characters-owned-marvel-studios/https://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/movie-distribution.htm https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/superhero-earns-13-billion-a-748281As far as The Wolverine...Wow! This is one surprisingly good movie that Byron and I both somehow managed to miss! It is one of our favorites we have covered so far despite not having world-ending consequences. Hugh Jackman plays his best Huge JackedMan to date!If you are watching along with us, don't forget to stay for the MCU-esque mid-credits scene...
This week we go back to 2000's original X-Men and give it a little more love after Matt was so dismissive in the last episode. Then we go deep into the whole trilogy, what we liked, what we didn't. For this episode we are returning to the MCU for the last movie of Phase 3 and the Infinity Saga.Tom Holland returns as Spider-Man and he nails it! This one is full of guilt and it reminds Matt of one of his favorite MCU films.  Listen to find out which one, also hear Matt's list of top ten favs and Byron's predictions for the future of the franchise.Next time we will be diving back into X-Men with 2011's X-Men: First Class. As always, email us with your feedback at funveepodcast@gmail.com and rate review us on iTunes.
In our first review of the X-Men Cinematic Universe we have some nitpicks but also some praise! We are watching these movies in the timeline that makes sense to us but you can please chime in at funveepodcast@gmail.com and let us know if it makes sense to you.  See more about the movie over at IMDb.Check out these articles about just how crazy the timeline of these movies really is!https://www.digitalspy.com/movies/a844881/x-men-chronological-order-timeline/https://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/films/672337/X-Men-movie-timeline-explained-X-Men-Apocalypse-Essex-Corphttps://ew.com/movies/2019/06/06/x-men-timeline-explained/
Are you ready for another year of hilarity? Another dozen episodes of goodness?  Well, we are! And for season 2 we are going to take on the movies in the X-Men universe! We'll attempt to analyze and stitch together this story that spans multiple generations, time travel, and a whole lot of mutant on mutant action. We'll start with X-Men (2000) and go from there. What do you think, should we include the Deadpool movies? Tell us your thoughts on that and anything else by emailing us at funveepodcast@gmail.com and rate and review us on iTunes.  We'll be sure to include your name and comments on air!
We finally made it to the best X-Men movie! Logan is so many things, a classic western, a road trip movie, and much more! Join us as we cap off season 2 and come back in 2020 for a new season of covering a different franchise of hero - Bond...James Bond.Directed By: James Mangold (The Wolverine 2013)Budget: $ 97 MMUSA Gross: $ 226 MMWW Gross:  $ 619 MMTomatometer: 93% IMDb Plot Summary: In a future where mutants are nearly extinct, an elderly and weary Logan leads a quiet life. But when Laura, a mutant child pursued by scientists, comes to him for help, he must get her to safety.Random trivia: This is the last movie in which Hugh Jackman will play Wolverine. He has cited his age and his skin cancer as factors in him retiring from the role. He also said that having a discussion with Jerry Seinfeld played a part in retiring the character, as Jerry talked generally about how he wanted to make sure he never got to a point with Seinfeld (1989) where audiences were weary of seeing it anymore, saying, "Oh, it's you again." Jackman felt fortunate to have avoided this for Wolverine, and wanted to ensure it never happened. Hugh Jackman stated in an interview that the only way he would reprise his role is if a crossover between Deadpool and Wolverine would happen. Both Deadpool movies have contained jokes aimed at Wolverine.
What do you think will happen next? We tell you all our thoughts in this episode! Tell us your predictions by emailing us at funveepodcast@gmail.com and rate and review us on iTunes.
Spoilers!!!Avengers Endgame sparked a great discussion about the whole MCU and we were excited to have special guest Kari join in!  Directed By: Joe and Anthony RussoBudget: Approx $356 MMUSA Gross: $ 771 MM (3.5 wks)WW Gross: $ 2.6 B first film ever to reach over $1 B in opening weekend. A pair of opening weekend IMAX tickets in New Jersey sold on eBay for $15,000!!IMDb Plot Summary: The Avengers and their allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.Random trivia:  In the original Iron Man (2008), the soundtrack used a short excerpt from the classic rock song "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath. In this movie, Iron Man fulfills the line of the song, "when he traveled time, for the future of mankind".As always, please let us know how we're doing by emailing us at funveepodcast@gmail.com or rate us and leave a review on iTunes.
