Kristiana Rule of Thirdworldbooknerd is BACK on The Creator Life! We talked about our experiences going through typhoon Odette and the Omicron variant. I kinda knew that there are people who are involved in podcasting but don't necessarily host a podcast. It's not just something I really think about because I do the whole operation by myself. Good thing I got to talk to someone who does know what it means to manage podcasts. She's Tish Ambal of The Sunshine Collective and I was pretty much in awe of the knowledge she shared. We got to talk about what she usually does as a podcast manager, what drew her into the podcasting world, and her everlasting struggle to start a podcast for some reason. (Haha!) Addressing the Future

Addressing the Future

2022-01-1004:54

Hello! Happy 2022! It's been a while since the last episode of Season 5. I wish this update was a more upbeat one, but I can't really bring myself to do that. Due to the aftermath of Typhoon Odette (Rai) to our place, plans for the future of this podcast has changed. It's not all bad though: I AM DOING SEASON 6! It'll just take longer for me to start back up than expected. Hope you guys understand! If you have any feedback on the podcast, you can send them on social media: facebook.com/creatorlifepod instagram.com/creatorlifepod twitter.com/creatorlifepod You can also shoot me an email here: jullian@utterlytechie.com See you soon in Season 6!
I'm ending Season 5 with another Christmas Chitchat!  This time, I got to talk to Rachel Lenli Tuhoy again! She's actually doing less of marketing lately since she is now the Product Owner of Omniquotient. We talk about how this startup-like setup was a very different experience for her, and how she treated this year as a year of learning. For the remaining episodes of Season 5, I'll be doing some Christmas Chitchats with returning guests. On this week's chitchat, I got to catch up with Mimi Gonzales, a fellow blogger I used to meet at events pre-pandemic. She actually stopped food blogging due to the pandemic! Her focus these days is writing and marketing content for businesses. We talk about how she's dealing with all that, talk about what we miss about blogging events, and how to be consistent with anything that you do. I really had fun doing the Bookshelf Conversations episodes! I wouldn't have done it without the support of my guest for this week's episode. She's Kyle Nate, the Deputy Editorial Director of Bookshelf PH! I first met her when we were still talking about the podcast feature over on Ambidextr. On this episode, we talked about her work as the Head of Media Partnerships of Ambidextr, and her current role including how they started Audiophile, the first audiobook platform in the Philippines. We also got into a full-on name rant, and got to sprinkle in some gadget talk! I actually brought some cat vibes to this podcast! That's all thanks to my guest for this episode, Marianne Dungog! She's the podcaster behind The Cat Hour where she talks to people from different walks of life about their stories. She used to do another podcast with her partner, The Neptunes Podcast! I talk to her about her podcasting journey so far including her future plans to do a show! You'll probably hear some cat noises in the background. Haha! I'm starting November with a catch-up with one of my friends, Ashley Uy! She's now working for Plentina, a fintech startup accelerating access to credit in emerging markets. I unfortunately never touched on exactly what she does for Plentina, but we tackled a lot on what she did prior to that! This includes her MBA program in Japan, the travels she took during that time, how she never really left the startup ecosystem, and even if her time management principles still hold up! On the last episode of the Bookshelf Conversations series, I have Janella Ventura, author of Warm Blankets in Cold Midnights. It is a compilation of one-shot stories in the romantic genre. We managed to recreate the one-shot story vibe on this episode! Topics ranged from everything she has done so far in terms of school and her writing career, the things she wants to do in the future, and even thoughts about love and relationships between different generations! We get into what made her start writing books, the origins of "Laws of Motion & Attraction" (or LOMA as she calls it) from being chapters of a fan fiction series to a full-on romance novel. When dealing with topics like the LGBTQ community and religion in the same episode, I decided to tone down all the humor and be careful with what I say. On this episode, I talk to Raymond Alikpala, author of "God Loves Bakla". It's a book that tackles his story as a closeted Filipino gay man through the Marcos years and how he decided to take that leap of faith and come out. We get into his journey of writing the book, the realizations he has a decade after the book was published, and if coming out in the age of the internet is actually more difficult or not.
