Happy Halloween, spooky babes. Thank you for your patience as I slowly made my big butt back to the pod. I'm here now! <3 Some houses are occupied by the restless spirits of those who have passed within their walls. They leave signs of their presence if you pay close enough attention, sometimes they even have enough energy to touch you, or move something in your home. Other effects can be more insidious...a dark thought injected into the brain, a cloud of hopelessness left lingering in the air for all to consume. Both appear to be the case at 6304 Beryl Road, where Esperanza and Gary Belofsky experienced a haunting that in the end, resulted in their story being one of the only cases of death attributed to paranormal activity in recorded history. Let's get dark. Today's episode was sourced & inspired by the Medium.com article "American Ghosts" by Jaq Evanshttps://medium.com/truly-adventurous/american-ghosts-ac41e9f2966bBackground music by Jordan/@weareadamnednationIntro/Outro music by BrainMireJoin the family.Support the show
Thank you for patiently waiting, my babes. This is the last solo episode for awhile! Pardon my cold on this. <3 The Movement for the Restoration of the Ten Commandments of God used fear of apocalyptic proportions to persuade its followers to give up all their earthly possessions and devote themselves to the cult. The abusive tactics are similar to many others we've discussed on the show before, and sadly, this didn't end any better than those. The majority of the Movement's followers would lose their lives to the homicidal tendencies of its leadership, being poisoned, bludgeoned, and trapped and a terrible fire, after one too many failed end of days predictions. Thank you so much for patiently waiting for the conclusion to Betty Andreasson's close encounter of the fourth kind, everyone! Life has been really kicking us in the ass lately, but here it is! Join us as we take a deep dive into the rest of Betty's abduction, and the investigator's findings into her and her family's encounters with the beings from a planet that shall not be named. Let's get dark. The source for this episode was The Andreasson Affair: The True Story of a Close Encounter of the Fourth Kind by Raymond E. FowlerSupport the show
The Andreasson family was going about their daily routine one evening in 1976 when a UFO landed in their backyard. There were flashing lights outside, the electricity went out in the house, and suddenly, there were visitors INSIDE the house, asking Betty Andreasson to come with them. Betty thought they may be sent from Jesus, but they sure looked like aliens. Eventually, they coerced her into joining them on their spacecraft, but that was just the beginning of her horrifying encounter. Join us as we dive into the Andreasson's close encounter of the fourth kind, and let's get dark. Support the show
Two days after her pharmaceutical tycoon boyfriend's 6 year old son Max, suffered from a terrible fall under her care, 32 year old Rebecca Zahau was allegedly found hanging from a balcony at the Coronado, California mansion where they spent summers. It was a tragic situation that might seem logical, except for a few major details: she was found with her wrist and ankles bound behind her body, she was nude, and there was a cryptic message written near her body that doesn't seem like it was written by Rebecca.  The investigation uncovered a ton of hinky details that only muddied the waters further regarding both deaths. We take a deep dive into what happened ten years ago at the Spreckels Mansion...join us, and let's get dark with the bizarre death of Rebecca Zahau. In Let's Get Dark's very first "Midnight Session" episode (those with a paranormal/esoteric subject matter) we discuss the very first Poltergeist in a housing project in the US: the haunting of 13 year old Ernie Rivers and his grandmother Mabelle Clark. Ernie had a tumultuous childhood, which culminated in an incredibly active and physical poltergeist that tormented him & his grandmother for months in 1961. The fact that they lived in public housing, meant that various officials began interceding in their lives, and the activity escalated so terribly that Ernie was removed from his grandmother's custody. There were elements of race and class discrimination rampant throughout their entire ordeal, and one has to wonder how differently the situation would have been handled had they not been a poor black family. But, when it came down to it, no one who witnessed the activity in the apartment could rationally explain what was taking place there. What happened at 125 Rose Street to Ernie and Mabelle? Join us as we take a dive into the "Project Poltergeist" rabbit hole, and Let's Get Dark. Yaser Said moved to America from Egypt in 1983 and shortly after, at the age of 30, married 15 year old Patricia Owens. By the time she was 18, the couple had three children under the age of five, and severely struggled to make ends meet. Yaser was a controlling and abusive husband and father, particularly focusing his attention on his beautiful daughters, who he saw as a way to secure financial success once they were old enough to marry off to wealthy "suitors" back in Egypt. When they rebelled against this abuse, an already mentally troubled Yaser completely lost it, and the end result was the tragic and brutal murder of the two bright young women who were unfortunate enough to be born into this unstable family. In the conclusion of our coverage on communication beyond the veil, we discuss more modern methods, primarily Ouija and Estes Method. In the first episode of our series on spirit/interdimensional communication, we discuss the practice which goes back to the beginning of recorded history, much like all the paranormal topics we cover. Cultures throughout time have conducted their own rituals and practices in order to commune with higher powers or those who have died, from Oracles and Seers in Ancient Greece, to modern day Christians receiving prophesy. We were so excited to talk with Connor Randall from the documentary series Hellier, co-inventor of the Estes Method of communication with the other side, YouTube series Spirits of the Stanley, and the list goes on. We discuss his experiences with the paranormal that helped shaped who he is today, how he developed the Estes Method (which we've spoken about and are mega-amateurs at, btw), and of course, Hellier and how their investigations on the show really line up with our ever-evolving beliefs about what is going on out in this crazy world and beyond. Tales of winged creatures and mysterious visitors in black go back to the beginning of recorded history, in just about every culture. In Point Pleasant, West Virginia during 1966 & 1967, these ominous visitors would serve as omens for a terrible tragedy that struck the town one December evening when the Silver Bridge collapsed into the river below. As usual, we discover that all of the paranormal phenomena we look into seems to be wound together tightly, and more & more we realize everything really is connected. When Rulon Jeffs prophet powers were (naturally) transferred to his son at the time of his death, the already maniacal man became an even bigger nightmare for the followers of FLDS than they had previously known. Using his "powers" he was able to convince them all to go along with ANYTHING, from forced child marriages to the possibility they would have to slice the throats of their wives if commanded. It's awful, but he gets what's coming to him and helps remind us all that they only good cult is a Creep It Real cult. Our sources for this episode include: Breaking Free: How I Escaped Polygamy,  the FLDS cult and my father, Warren JeffsProphet's Prey: My Seven-Year Investigation Into Warren Jeffs and the Fundamentalist Church of Latter-Day Saints by Sam BrowerJoin the familyEmail usSupport the show(https://www.patreon.com/creepitrealpod)Support the show
The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was created as a more rigid interpretation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, more specifically to continue practicing polygamy after the LDS church stopped.  Because there was never any structure within the FLDS, there have been battles for power since its inception, and the cult has always been rife with abuse and corruption. When Rulon Jeffs became the prophet and his son manipulated his way to the position at his death,  the FLDS reached all-new levels of depravity. He was a lunatic regarded as the mouth of God, and the obedience of his followers was essential to their access to heaven.  The entire cult is an example of the repeating cycles of abuse and a lesson that the only good cult is a Creep It Real cult.  Our sources for this episode include: Breaking Free: How I Escaped Polygamy,  the FLDS cult and my father, Warren JeffsProphet's Prey: My Seven-Year Investigation Into Warren Jeffs and the Fundamentalist Church of Latter-Day Saintsby Sam BrowerJoin the familyEmail usSupport the show
Indigenous women make up only 4% of Canada's population but are four times more likely to be murdered or go missing. This means that even by the most conservative estimates, half of all women murdered are indigenous. It is a tragedy striking Canada and the United States at an alarming rate. In 2014, a 15-year-old Indigenous girl named Tina Fontaine was found murdered and dumped in the Red River in Winnipeg, Canada. Her murder sparked a call for justice and lengthy investigation, ultimately resulting in an arrest and charges against the person that most are certain committed the heinous crime. Was the trial a success for the prosecution, ending in the conviction of the accused? We're gonna creep it real...let's talk about it. We didn't know what we were getting into when we started looking into the seemingly inordinate amount of deaths of prominent Ferguson protestors and Civil Rights leaders, but it took us down a path that frankly made us uncomfortable, and challenged the beliefs we had about the tragic situation that sparked a new revolution. What happened that day in Ferguson, Missouri in 2014, and what has been the aftermath? You know we're gonna creep it real, so let's talk. Links to our sources for this episode can be found here. Join the family! All things CIRSupport the show
There may have been a time when Alex Jones had intentions other than, as Texas Monthly aptly put it, “helping to create a world where facts don’t matter.” but that version of himself is long, long gone. The fantastic publication awarded Jones their 2019 Bum Steer of the Year award, saying “the radio host dragged our democracy into the same sewer he crawled out of so many years ago.” and we could not agree more. Unfortunately, he trolled his way right into the president's pocket, playing a key role in his rhetoric and decisions. In an age of rampant disinformation, we discuss the role Jones has played in creating a false reality, and the others he's paved the way for, like QAnon. Is Alex Jones the most prolific conspiracy theorist of modern times? You know we'll creep it real, so let's talk about it. Join the family! 79 - Haunts of Gettysburg

2020-10-2301:00:09

Considered a perfect storm for the paranormal, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania is often believed to be one of the most haunted places in the United States. The site of the bloodiest battle of the civil war, the area saw a tremendous amount of violence, terror, anger...an intense amount of just about every negative energy possible, and it has had a ripple effect to this day. There are reports of ghostly apparitions, voices, physical touches, and most have been experienced throughout the past century with numerous witnesses all reporting very similar stories. What is going on in Gettysburg, and what can explain the paranormal phenomena that has occurred with such frequency since the Civil War? Let's talk about it. In this episode, we discuss one of America's oldest pastimes: cannibalism. Alfred (or Alferd if you ask him) Packer was an early settler in the Western Frontier which was essentially one hard time after another, and that wasn't helped by his general unlikeableness and all-around shady behavior. In 1874, when he led a group of men through the harsh Colorado winter wilderness against the warnings of the Indigenous tribe who had welcomed them in, all the men ended up dead, except for ol' Packer. In fact, he claimed to have survived off something all together unsettling: the men's meaty thighs. The story was an uproar for the newly settled area, and it was a venerable shitshow as they attempted to seek justice for the dead men. Join us for a very special collaboration with our girls over at Kim and Ket Stay Alive...Maybe who covered the amazingly bizarre movie "Ravenous" which was very loosely based off the story of Alfred Packer and is MUCH sexier. At the end of the episode, we all sit together to discuss our feelings on cannibalism, Ravenous, Packer, and which of us would be cool with chomping on some meaty thighs...outside of the bedroom. The only time you'd laugh when referring to "looking for a missing child" would be if the friend was blind... I'd laugh at least lol

I love this podcast. These two have a perfect mix of light hearted banter and deep respect for the victims of the crimes they discuss, reminiscent of TCATT. I binge listened in one week, ignoring all my normal favorites until I finished. Thank you for the awesome listen and I look forward to hearing more in the future!
