Hello…anyone still there? Hear us talk about Skam news that are almost a year old because that’s how long ago we recorded this, but we still hit some relevant points.  Join us to discuss Druck season 6! This season is all about our girl Fatou.  We love Fatou. We love Ava. We love Kieu My…We love all our flawed teens (except Constantin), but kind of just like the season as a whole. And remember Fatou is the turtle (it’s a metaphor!!!).
Gaby and Liska tackle episodes 6-10 in the second half of our discussion of the everything everywhere adaptation: France s6!   Follow us online!  Twitter: @criesnorwegian  Tumblr: criesinnorwegianpodcast.tumblr.com Instagram: @criesinnorwegianpod Email: criesinnorwegian@gmail.com
This. Season. Has. Everything. And we mean EVERYTHING. Mean girls, addiction, hospitalization, secret affairs, tragic backstories, hook ups, dead parents, urban exploration, new friend groups, bitch slaps, sister betrayal, bio-dad rejection, extremely patient love interests, and sentimental, tinkling piano scores. Because like Tiffany, France really commits to the bit. Gaby liked it more than expected, Liska just might talk herself into liking it by the end. One thing we can agree in on is Lola is a complex and strangely lovable character. Join us as we discuss all this and more… and this is just the first half! Buongiorno! It's time to talk about season four of Skam Italia and we've got some notes. This season has a weird place in the Skam-verse and we try to break down why that is. We still love our Italia squads, but despite a strong ending, this season felt a bit superficial to us. Still, we love discussing and dissecting this corner of the Skam universe.  **slight spoilers for season 5 at the beginning!** Follow us online!  Twitter: @criesnorwegian  Tumblr: criesinnorwegianpodcast.tumblr.com Instagram: @criesinnorwegianpod Email: criesinnorwegian@gmail.com
Turns out, revisiting early pandemic times is… interesting.    The WTFock mini season is a fascinating artifact of its time and we give big props to the creators for trying it. Sobbe is mostly a miss for us this time around, alas, and to no one's surprise we're still huge Zoenne stans. Join us as we discuss the creative storytelling of WTFockdown!   Follow us online!  twitter: @criesnorwegian  Tumblr: criesinnorwegianpodcast.tumblr.com instagram: @criesinnorwegianpod Or email us at: criesinnorwegian@gmail.com
Wilhelm &  Simon &  Stella &  August &  Sara & Felice   We finish our YOUNG ROYALS deep dive with an episode-by-episode look. There're secret societies, scooters, tragedies, pills, penniless nobles, sex in Hollywood, and terrible, bad, no good parents. The brilliant Henrik from skamenglishsubs continues to blow our minds with his thoughtful analysis and cultural context. Season 2 was announced but no release date yet, perhaps late summer or fall. Needless to say, everyone on the show is mentally doing great!    Follow us on twitter at: @criesnorwegian  Or email us at: criesinnorwegian@gmail.com  Tumblr: criesinnorwegianpodcast.tumblr.com instagram: @criesinnorwegianpod
Taking a brief break from SKAM, Gaby and Liska finally sat down to discuss YOUNG ROYALS! Joining us is the one, the only, the legendary Henrik of skamenglishsubs, with his fascinating insider knowledge of the country and culture. We discuss the ins and outs of Swedish royalty (naturally), class solidarity, boarding schools, the show’s realism, the characters and their complicated relationships, what we loved about the show, what maybe could have been better, and “those hair clips cost how much???” And this is just part 1!   Follow us on twitter at: @criesnorwegian  Or email us at: criesinnorwegian@gmail.com  Tumblr: criesinnorwegianpodcast.tumblr.com instagram: @criesinnorwegianpod
We're back! It's time to talk about our girl Nora Machwitz! We're a little divided on what works or doesn't work this season, but we're both very impressed Druck managed to bring the spirit of skam to a new generation of characters. In this episode we gush about Nora, defend our supportive king John, love to hate on Consti and we like Kieu My so much Fatou might not be the only one with a crush....suffice to say there's lots to talk about and we say artifice a lot for some reason.    Follow us on twitter at: @criesnorwegian  Or email us at: criesinnorwegian@gmail.com  Tumblr: criesinnorwegianpodcast.tumblr.com instagram: @criesinnorwegianpod
Join us to talk about Skam España FOR THE LAST TIME as we tackle all the non-Amira POVs in season 4: Alejandro (enjoyable), Lucas (messy) and Joana (glad to see her?). Overall we have some mixed reactions, but agree that there's just not enough time and specificity given to these storylines. Still, we love España and are sad to say adios to these characters!   Follow us on twitter at: @criesnorwegian  Or email us at: criesinnorwegian@gmail.com  Tumblr: criesinnorwegianpodcast.tumblr.com instagram: @criesinnorwegianpod
One of our favorite remakes tackles the always complicated, never-quite-completely-satisfying Sana season with predictably mixed results. We love Amira, we love Las Labass, we’re a little mixed on Dani, and rather divided on Amiris. The season tackles Amira’s Muslim faith sensitively and head-on, and somehow loses the plot (metaphorically speaking). Was it due to shooting during Covid? We’ll never know. Join us as we discuss Skam Espana, season 4! (spoiler alert...this is just part 1!)    Follow us on twitter at: @criesnorwegian  Or email us at: criesinnorwegian@gmail.com  Tumblr: criesinnorwegianpodcast.tumblr.com instagram: @criesinnorwegianpod
WtFock season 3 gave us a lot to talk about. There are many things we liked: Some beautiful character moments, we were introduced to Noor, Robbe might be the gentlest Isak, and Sander is insanely talented...and yet the writing left us wanting more. This season has a lot to live up to and some baffling writing choices make us feel more lukewarm about this season than we’d want to be. Come hear our thoughts and feel free to tell us why our Sobbe opinions are wrong!    Follow us on twitter at: @criesnorwegian  Or email us at: criesinnorwegian@gmail.com  Tumblr: criesinnorwegianpodcast.tumblr.com instagram: @criesinnorwegianpod
We dive into our first original character with Arthur, a compelling character who, after six hours of his season, we just don’t really know. The discussion revolves around love triangles, character cores, well-intentioned messaging that doesn’t quite practice what it preaches, and why Emma, Bas, and Fifi are superstars. Digressions include THE SOUND OF METAL (2019), our shameful ableist moments, remote Maine islands, and why ASL should be part of our regular school curriculum. Our voices were raw by the end!   Follow us on twitter at: @criesnorwegian  Or email us at: criesinnorwegian@gmail.com  Tumblr: criesinnorwegianpodcast.tumblr.com NEW INSTAGRAM!!!! @criesinnorwegianpod
We always love talking about Italia, even if this is our least favorite season.  We are sad to report that Liska was not a fan of this season, while Gaby would call it perfectly adequate.  While there are many parts of this season that we enjoyed, it just didn’t come together for us. Gaby decides that Incantava is the most dramatic, but also the most rational Noorhelm, how does that make sense? Listen and find out!  Join us as we dissect why the directing, writing, and yes, the aesthetic left us feeling like this season was more style than substance.    **recorded before the Druck episode but time is a construct    Follow us on twitter at: @criesnorwegian  Or email us at: criesinnorwegian@gmail.com  Tumblr: criesinnorwegianpodcast.tumblr.com NEW INSTAGRAM!!!! @criesinnorwegianpod
No intro, just straight Skam talk in the second half of our unplanned two-parter. We discuss how the show goes from no conflict to punching in 60 seconds or less, why Winterberg is weirdly the best, and Jonas and Hanna the sweetest. Have we mentioned we love Matteo? Because we really love Matteo. Liska and Gaby wrap up Druck s4. In a void, we quite enjoyed it.   Follow us on twitter at: @criesnorwegian  Or email us at: criesinnorwegian@gmail.com  Tumblr: criesinnorwegianpodcast.tumblr.com NEW INSTAGRAM!!!! @criesinnorwegianpod
We tackle a very puzzling season of Druck, which attempts to smooth out some of Sana’s rough edges and somehow takes out all the conflict. Join us for the first half of our very meandering discussion on Amira, her family, Mazzouk, Kiki, and the season where we love the characters, yet are overall left lacking. For bonus fun, take a shot every time Liska says “backbone.” Our apologies for the bad audio. I’d say we’re going to fix it, but honestly we can't figure out what went wrong.   UPDATE: This is part 1 of a 2-parter, which we weren't planning on, hence the abrupt ending, but 2 hours of SKAM discussion felt a bit much even for us. Part 2 coming very soon!   Follow us on twitter at: @criesnorwegian  Or email us at: criesinnorwegian@gmail.com  Tumblr: criesinnorwegianpodcast.tumblr.com NEW INSTAGRAM!!!! @criesinnorwegianpod
While Gaby had to (re)watch season 4 with an open mind to find things to love (Imane! Sofiane's smile!), Liska makes her most controversial SKAM take to date: Imane's season is actually good! Clearly a lot to discuss but at least we both agree that the girl squad sucks. Apologies for the glitchy audio we were fighting with some less than ideal wifi connections. Also lol we recorded this in 2020....   Follow us on twitter at: @criesnorwegian  Or email us at: criesinnorwegian@gmail.com  Tumblr: criesinnorwegianpodcast.tumblr.com NEW INSTAGRAM!!!! @criesinnorwegianpod
Welcome to our 73min WTFock season 2 love fest! We gush, we faun, we dissect to praise. Okay, we still found a few things to nitpick. The first 5min is a tad out-of-date discussion on SUPERNATURAL queer-baiting. Skip ahead if you don’t care. And enjoy our special guest, Einstein The Very Large Puppy, chewing down the house in the background. *ONE OF US* was dog sitting.   Follow us on twitter at: @criesnorwegian  Or email us at: criesinnorwegian@gmail.com  Tumblr: criesinnorwegianpodcast.tumblr.com NEW INSTAGRAM!!!! @criesinnorwegianpod
We have finally reached the end of our Skam Norway recap. The gang gets together one last time to celebrate the end of Ramadan, Sana, her faith, and, in some ways, each other and the end of the show. We have awkward Eskild. Even more awkward William. Toilet paper callbacks. Couples split and others get together. Life goes on. Shed a tear with us as we say good bye to Sana’s season in our part two discussion of 4x10.   PS Sorry for the sound quality! We tried (as you’ll hear). We learned for later episodes.   Follow us on twitter at: @criesnorwegian  Or email us at: criesinnorwegian@gmail.com  Tumblr: criesinnorwegianpodcast.tumblr.com NEW INSTAGRAM!!!! @criesinnorwegianpod
Baffled by kosegruppa? Perplexed by absentee parents? Have questions about the Oslo bus system? We found a real live Norwegian to answer our burning and obscure questions. Seven clips. Eight characters. No Sana....It’s time to start saying goodbye to our friends! We discuss the POV clips for Vilde, Penetrator Chris, Jonas, Chris, Even, William and Eskild and Linn. So many parallels and references to enjoy (we love you Julian Dahl!) There's a lot to love, even in the clips that left us wanting more, but above all, we're sad the end is almost here! Join us as we discuss part 1 of the final episode of Skam.
