We are back with a slightly new look, to discuss 5.5 of the 2nd London! If this is helpful to you in any way, please SUBSCRIBE and SHARE this video for others.
Probably the BEST paragraph on God's providence! Join Josh as he discusses terms like "determinate counsel" and God's providence even in the first fall.
The 1689, 5.3 is perhaps the shortest paragraph in all the confession, yet it lacks no substance. Join Josh as he walks through what it means for God to work without, above, and against means
Continuing our journey through 'Of Divine Providence' in the 2LBC, I discuss first and second causes as well as necessary, free, and contingent effects.
Today, we begin a new chapter of the Confession, Of Divine Providence!
Last paragraph on the doctrine of creation. You do NOT want to miss this one. I will deal with the vital distinction between the moral (or natural) law and positive law.
The doctrine of creation shapes how we think about mankind. God created men, male and female, according to His own likeness.
Whether it be time itself or the matter that makes up your hairbrush, it was created by the triune God. Anything not God is creature, and everything creature derives from God, who is the first cause.
Rounding off chapter 3 with paragraph 7. Here, I have the privilege of discussing the term "mystery" and the delicate nature of the doctrine of predestination.
Picking back up on God's decree after a two-week break! Paragraph 6 gives us a comprehensive and accurate picture of the doctrine of predestination.
God's election is sure being immutably decreed by God. But on what basis does God elect? Is it on the basis of man, or on the basis of God Himself? The unconditionality of election is crucial to salvation by grace alone through faith alone.
God's will to save a particular people for Himself is immutable. It cannot change. If God has decreed it, it will come to pass infallibly.
Election and reprobation: positive-positive or positive-negative? Join me as I discuss the article 3 of chapter 3 in our Confession.
Talking God's knowledge as it relates to His decree. We also dive into the idea of middle knowledge and whether or not it's compatible with our theology proper discussed back in chapter 1.
Kicking off God's decree with a vitally important consideration of God's decree ad intra and God's decree ad extra. In other words: God's decree as it is in God, and God's decree as He's revealed it to us.
Join me for the last paragraph in chapter two on the Holy Trinity! As the Confession states, this doctrine is the source of our communion with God, and comfortable dependence on Him.
2.2 recognizes the dutiful response of creatures in light of who God is. God is goodness itself, and so we ought to worship, serve, and obey Him according to His Word.
In this episode, we kick off a brand new chapter, Of God and of the Holy Trinity. Here, I cover important doctrines such as the unity of God, the simplicity of God, and the immutability & impassibility of God.
Rounding off chapter 1 of the Second London with article 10 on the supremacy of the Holy Scriptures! Join us next week as we begin chapter 2, Of God and the Holy Trinity!
An important hermeneutic principle is discussed in this episode. We discussed a short paragraph jam packed with rich interpretational input.
