For our fifth and final episode, we keep with the international perspective of our last episode, expanding to a four person round table of experts from the TCI Network Board of Directors during the recent TCI Network Global Conference hosted by the Institute here in Toronto Our panel is made up of: James Wilson, Tracy Scott-Rimington, Merete Daniel Nielsen, Marco Antonio and Llinas Vargas. Clusters and Competitiveness is produced by the Institute for Competitiveness & Prosperity, a Canadian think tank focused on raising the competitiveness and prosperity of the province of Ontario.
Episode 4 takes on a more global outlook, courtesy of Ifor Ffowcs Williams CEO of Cluster Navigators Ltd. Ifor, who spoke with us during the recent Institute hosted TCI Network Global conference on clusters is a leader in cluster-based economic development with experience in over 50 countries across the globe. For episode #3 we gathered a group of clusters experts to talk about some of the sectors' most pressing and contentious issues both in Toronto and across Canada and North America. Clusters and Competitiveness is produced by the Institute for Competitiveness & Prosperity, a Canadian think tank based in Toronto. Through our conversations with those who work with and within clusters, we’ll talk about what clusters can and can’t do.
On Episode #2 we dive further into the world of clusters, examining how to manage their growth and hopefully putting to rest the notion that clusters can be built from nothing. Then we turn to the town of Stratford, Ontario, home of the world famous Stratford Shakespeare festival as well as pop star Justin Bieber's home town. Looking at the city as a case study in cluster growth, we see that the Bard and the Biebs have more in common than many would think. On our first episode, we start with what on the surface seems like a pretty simple question – what is a cluster? On first blush, clusters seem pretty basic and easy to understand.
