Dom has been a federal court reporter in the busy Eastern District of New York (at Central Islip, Long Island) since 1997. This followed 15 years as a freelance reporter and principal, during which time he had offices on both coasts of the United States, in Hong Kong, and in London. For the preceding 20 years, he was an official reporter in the New York State Supreme Court. Dom is currently completing his service as the President of the country's first professional shorthand association, the New York State Court Reporters Association.  This past summer Dom was honored when he became the recipient of the National Court Reporters Foundation's Aurelio Award for Altruism. In September 2010 Dom opened The Gallery of Shorthand in the lobby of the federal courthouse in which he is employed. Dom is delighted to share his recently published book, "The Legends of Shorthand," which highlights the giants of reporting -- from Pitman to Varallo, from the stenographer who sat at Lincoln's Deathbed to the reporter responsible for computer-aided transcription.
