Description

The Deep End is a deep dive into the fascination of Social Phenomenas. Here I help explore the polarizing sensations and what it is that drives us so crazy about them. It is intended to talk about current news, tech development and evolution of pop culture. At times, there will be movie reviews, sports commentary and even history parallels as sometimes these factors become very relevant with cultural changes and generational shifts.

#54 The Heard Depp Trial

#54 The Heard Depp Trial

2022-06-0801:15:41

It's over.... after months of listening to each side give testimony of about the other's dirty laundry, we finally have a verdict. Amber Heard is a liar. Lol What does this outcome really mean when we boil down to it? Does it mean it is the end of the #Metoo movement? Is it the beginning of #Mentoo? Whether you believe Amber Heard was lying or not, what we had on our hands was an old fashion Pillorying - except memes replaced the stones. Amber Heard is Eve, she is Madonna, Lady Macbeth... she is the terrible stepmother, the crazy lying, conniving witch across the street in the window. All the circus of Depp fans, the feminist, the men activists and conspirators all throwing in their two cents into the social media machine. And out of it, what do we learn? Why is this such a peculiar time for this case? You would think, we'd be in an enlightenedplace... YOU WOULD THINK? lol Special thanks to my guests Oscar & Jess from The Perfect Mess Podcast - check out the link below to hear their podcast. I featured on their last episode. We discuss why did TerraLuna crash. What is the difference between stable coins and other crypto coins. Was this down by a single attacker? What does this mean for the future of Crypto?https://www.thedeependpod.comhttps://the-deep-end-merch.creator-spring.com
Watch on Youtube Here:https://youtu.be/jE20wDnkTx0In this episode, Matt and Cynthia join me to discuss why gas prices are so high and we talk about the war in Ukraine. We then discuss Disney's censorship of LGBTQ characters in Pixar animated films. Lastly we discuss the theory of the Great Reset,
In this episode, I invite my brother and his friend, the creator of Highs Gaming Hub and Battle Pugs, Jamie Ceballos, onto the show! We discuss his channel on highsgaminghub.theta.tv. How it started and how it he went from video game streaming to changing the conversation to cryptocurrency and how he uses NFT's. 2021 is considered the breakthrough year for Crypto and we talk about why that is and what is the real opportunity here? Is the more to NFT's than just collectable digital images? Make sure to hit that Subscribe! Follow us on thedeependpod.comFollow Jamie @Highsgaminghub on Insta
In this episode, my friends Andre and Mark return back to the show and provide comedic context to the Dave Chappelle outrage. Was the backlash warranted? At what point does comedy cross the line? We discuss both perspectives, the what if's and the why's. What is it about Dave Chappelle that allows him to be the only one to take on this subject? If you haven't subscribed to the deep end, please do! Thank you for the sub!
In this episode, I invite my longtime friend Mark Flores on the show. This was a more casual laid back episode where we just recap the political sphere we were all in in the past 4 years. My last episode was basically a finale of the Trump presidency and we discuss what's changed in 2021? Things are starting to come back to normal, but rest assured, 2020 was definitely a playbook for something in the future to come. We talk politics, social media, the market, and business- how have these things change slightly, but enough to change course in a huge way? Lastly, we discuss an icon I've always wanted to talk about, Robin Williams, and the conspiracies that surrounded his death. What really happened to Robin Williams?
With so much going on in the world between storming the capitol and the market scandal, I've finally dropped a new episode catching up on how I've been and what I've been up to since the last drop. This one is more personal and I reflect on what really matters in all this? Because todays news is gone tomorrow. We are so fixed on the next story... the next headline... the next sensation... the next loss ....that we don't feel anything anymore, we lost touch of reality and traded it for the matrix. We poured so much into it, that social media itself now has the power to cancel us. So that is why I say it is important to find your voice in the wilderness... to be original... to be real and to be you. Because nothing can replace that -We all have a deep end in us.
#38 A Close Call

#38 A Close Call

2020-07-1441:12

There has been a lot of people going through it this year and right now, we are still mid-pandemic. I myself had some health scares that had me rethink about my life and changed my perspective on things. I guess you could say it was kind of a close call. In this episode, I talk about a real incident that happened to me this year and how it put me at risk of losing my life. The good news is I'm here now and I'm able to talk about it. Hopefully it helps anyone who might be facing these types of scares today. My message to you is stay strong!
In this episode, I invite my good friend Cory McCormick onto the show! Cory has been immersed into music his whole life from skating to his favorite jams on the radio to doing freelance work for bands and mastering their albums to perfection. Cory is not a one trick pony though, he is a musician and song writer at heart. He has written and composed, "And Other Hearsay" in 2018 and plans to drop another album called, "Inner Space", once everything returns back normal due to the Corona Virus. I ask Cory if during this quarantine he's been able to watch Tiger King? haha.... And his reaction is pretty funny! One of the reasons I asked Cory onto the show is because I wanted to know the idea behind the band name, "The Man in The Bottle"? So Cory shares an interesting fact about the name and what meaning it has become to him. Come to find out, Cory works at EastWest Studios, so the Grammys are like the Super Bowl, but Cory offers an opinion that might be controversial (Billie Eilish's name is mentioned lol) even as it may very well make a lot of sense haha. I believe that Cory's journey is very relatable to the songwriter, musician, and creative in us all. There are times we have writers block, times we feel drowned out by the music or need to soul search to identify how to move forward. It's not the same thing for everybody, but Cory offers a unique perspective to the music and human element of it all.
In this episode, I invite my longtime friend, Edgar Castillo, onto the show! Edgar has always been a quiet dude, but he's never shy'd away from living it up. He currently works in the Airline industry and talks about how he got into his line of work. Castillo has went from traveling the world to having to stay home and quarantine like the rest of us. So I ask him to reminisce of his traveling experiences and to describe the tastes and sounds of what it's like to be out in the world again. Edgar has always been a big Futbol lover and he opens up about the energy at sporting events and how it was before the social gathering restrictions. Of course, the Rona has effected his job as well and he so talks about the changes that have taken place after the outbreak. There has been a change of plans for everyone this year, but Edgar helps us get a glimpse of the horizon again.
In this episode, I invite my good friend, Nickolas Gonzalez, onto the show! He is the creator and Co-owner of El Notorious Pin - A pin business that does mashups of your favorite artist, cartoons, sports teams and more. I ask Nick how he got into photography and graphic arts? He says it was very incidental and there could have been a chance he would have never gotten into photography or learning about graphic arts if it wasn't for his son. When I ask him, "How the business started?" He explains that it all started with a instagram post that was followed up by a phone from an intrigued friend. Nick goes on to talk about the pin game and the meaning behind some of the mashup ideas. I ask him to talk about how the Rona has impacted his business and family life? He opens up about home schooling, about his friends why he believes he has the best tight knit squad, about Kobe's passing and even offers some tips to those starting their own businesses. Find out what's next for The Notorious Pin by tuning into The Deep End.
In this episode, I invite Ali Pettway on the show! Ali is an old high school friend of mine who currently works in the field of hospitality. Mr. Pettway opens up about how he got into hospitality management and how The Rona is affecting his industry. Ali has been working as a Front Desk Manager for most of this decade and so he has seen everything from working with celebrities like Jessica Alba, Fat Joe and Justin Beaver to servicing NFL Teams to dealing with people acting out and even handling some suicide cases. He is a big sports enthusiast and wants the NBA back, ASAP! So I ask him his thoughts on when we can expect to see basketball again? What does this mean for Lebron and the Lakers? I also ask him to share his thoughts about losing Kobe Bryant. After all that, Pettway talks about future of the quarterback and the Tom Brady/Bill Belichick split. Why there is more pressure on one than the other? And lastly, we close out with who have been some of his inspirations because we need that more than ever right now. Thank you for catching The Deep End!
In this episode I invite my good friend Matt Salcedo onto to the show. Matt is very cool with everybody and he's well connected in his community (Inland Empire). This is why I asked Matt to come onto the show because in a day where we all have social distancing to worry about, Matt and I discuss what can be the silver lining to staying at home. Matt is an old high school friend of mine and so we talk about some cool people back in the day. Matt shares why he was kicked off the improv team and why he socked a guy during The Carter High School riots. Later on, he opens up about his experience with the 4th kind and I share about my experience in the enchanted forest. When we get back to surface, I ask Matt to share about his Lyft driving experience and he opens up about an interesting ride that led to an abandoned parking lot. lol If that wasn't good enough, Matt gets into some fights he's had where he was forced to knock some people out. This leads us to the topic of Khabib and Ferguson curse. Was the Corona Virus bio-engineered to postpone their fight? Lol no not really, but seriously, the universe does not want these two to fight and why? At the end of this podcast, we find the silver lining to the stay at home policy that might change our perspective of things from doom and gloom to boom and bloom.
In this episode, I have the chance to speak to my long time friend since Kindergarten, Jantuane "Hector" Rivera, needless to say, French Montana's Barber! Hector and I are close friends and we talk about how it all started? He opens up about his first cut and talks about the evolution of the game. I ask him, "What does it take to be successful at what you do?" Who inspires him? But, theres more to Jantuane than meets the eye. So we go a little deeper into who Rico is? Hector has always been a very creative person with ambition. The mixture has always made Hector want to be the best at whatever he's put mind into. Despite hardships and challenges, he's pushed through it all. Loosing one of his closest friends, Joel, and complications with the law haven't stopped Hector's positivity and light in the darkness. We talk about his skating days and the days of rapping. At the end, I ask him, "What keeps you pushin'?" and he shares something I never heard from him before.
In this episode, I invite my long time childhood friend, Steven, onto the show. Steven is a U.S. Veteran, studied in Computer Science, is currently the Co-Owner of Coaches Pitt BBQ and President of Non-profit Positive Shift Alliance. In this episode we explore the domino effect of The World Health Organization declaring the COVID-19 a Global Pandemic. Everything is cancelled and people swamp the stores to buy up all the food and medicine supplies in bulk. Some go as far as buying up all the toilet paper and water while they're at it, but deeper than that, we look at what is really happening underneath the surface of this all? Why something weird is happening in Wall St? What are the new vulnerabilities we face moving to work from home? and what is shifting underneath us all that we don't see? Find out by listening to this weeks episode of The Deep End!
In this episode I talk with Oscar Trujillo who is the creator of the Locker Room B.O. Podcast. We talk his most recent breakthrough with booking a pretty popular guest on his show. We then talk about some of the topics he's touched on and our mutual friend (my cousin Karlos). Also we dive into topics of Religion, Homosexuality, Jokes and even the Corona Virus as it continues to create mass hysteria.

In this episode I talk about Russia's intervening the 2020 president election. How they prefer Trump or Sanders - To polar opposites and the possible reasons why that might be. Also, we talk about Disney's official first LGBTQ Character in the newest Pixar film "Onward". Why some are upset at Disney. Then we cover how authentic influencers can make so much more through TikTok if they're lucky. Why makes the downward spiral of the market so dangerous? What actually puts us more at risk? Lastly, we talk Wilder vs Furty and how Boxing's "Golden Age" wasn't so Golden back in the day as it was ran by the mob and dirty promoters such as Don King.
In this episode, Mark and I talk about the Novel Corona Virus outbreak of 2019 in Wuhan China. How did this happen? How fast is it spreading and how serious is it? Amid this pandemic, the U.S. has undergone an impeachment trial and republican senators have acquitted Trump as fast as he was impeached by democratic congress. What does this mean now for our country? What does it mean for American Politics? The 49ers lost Super Bowl 54 all within the 5 mins of the 4th. It was painful to watch, but then reality sets in, Patrick Mahomes isn't just an average quarterback.... in measuring greatness, can I say transformative?Microsoft is done playing console war with Sony Playstation. What is the reason they are not worried about Sony? What is the future of gaming exactly look like? With Kobe's memorial set for Feb 24th, some social media jokers are attempting to disgrace the legend with past allegations. Why must we always have those that poison the well? I need to get this record straight.

#26 Mamba Out

2020-01-3001:27:36

2020 was a rough start, with a flu going around, Impeachment proceedings, World War 3... and then, life stops...... you read the news and Kobe Bryant has died in a helicopter crash. You shake your head in disbelief saying to yourself, "This can't be real!" Then you find out it is and the world is in shock and grief, but what is more tragic is that there was 8 other victims including his Mambacita, Gigi. The world was flipped on his head and everyone was broken this day on 01/26/2020. So far... 2020 sucks.
So many questions to ask, so little time. As Steven preps for his upcoming Art Gallery, he talks about his work and his method to painting various art. Steven and I go way back to the days of middle school and even then, I remember witnessing hints of the creativity. It is fascinating to see his work now and it makes me realize anything is possible when we put our mind to it and practice, practice... practice. He shares with us his development as an artist and why he has appreciated painting more and more over time. When? Where? Can you see his next Art Gallery? Opening Reception is on Feb 1st, 2020 from 6-11p @ 3615 Main St., Riverside, CA 92501.
