Star 99.9’s Making of a Lawn with Kevin Begley

We are live from Kevin's backyard for the Making of a Lawn season finale! Chris and Kevin kick back on the patio and talk about how the lawn is looking since the season started back in April and what it took to get the grass looking like it does. Kevin invited some coworkers over for burgers, dogs, and lawn games so we get their opinion on the lawn too. We also dive into our favorite lawn games and best cookout foods. This week Kevin talks about the big scare he had with something that happened to his grass. Chris explains why it looks so scary and what it actually is. We then get into the crazy thing about the turf at the Women's World Cup. How your lawn should look in spring, summer, and fall. Then we preview the big season finale episode that will be recorded during a cookout at Kevin's house!

In episode 5 Kevin explains the mowing trick he discovered while mowing his lawn recently and how his lawn is looking up against the neighbors. Chris talks about the different kinds of bugs and insects that good and bad for your grass. Including the one insect that can destroy everything. Also, the movie Caddyshack comes up more than a few times. 

This week Chris was in the area so he swung by the studio to record a post-Memorial Day Weekend episode with Kevin. They recap each of their holiday weekend cookouts, explain how mowing designs happen, and discuss the do's and don't of summer watering. Plus, the one thing you DO NOT want to do if you're using organic fertilizer. Christ tells a hilarious cautionary tale. 

In episode 3 Kevin and Chris go over the results from the second application to Kevin's lawn. They discuss the dreaded "Grub" problem and why you want to prevent it. Chris also tells a fun backyard story about his dog and gives Kevin some watering tips involving tuna cans.

This week in episode 2 Chris evaluates how Kevin's lawn is looking so far after the first application. They also get into Kevin's recent trip to Augusta, GA for The Masters. Chris explains the elaborate, fascinating lawn management system they have at Augusta National to keep the course looking perfect.
