Allyson Remigio (@allysonr) is a Baddie from the Bay to Vegas and now Sac. Her research interests include Integrative Health & Wellness, and Motherscholarship. She currently works in rare disease education. BB hosts sit to catch up with Ally on (visiting the Philippines, tiny home living, and parenting). Together they hop on zoom to talk about grief in our Filipino culture and families.
How do we, as Filipino-Americans, deal with the (corporeal) loss of loved ones and of those closest to us?
On today’s episode, we share the honor of remembering Teresa Dancel Fernandez nearly a year after her passing. We invite Allyson to recall the depth of their love and to impart with us her navigation of grief. It is our longest episode to date, but is best delivered in its full completion as tribute.

Anime was a big part of our collective childhood as Filipina/o/x Americans and as Asian Americans. Sailor Moon is iconic and we know that our listeners stand. What makes this anime so pivotal in shaping 90s kids in our community? Today our Bruha Baddies cohosts reminisce how this show had deeper layers that led to a more intellectual awakening as adults especially with its queer and feminist under and overtones.

Loisse Ledres is a Filipina freelance designer and illustrator based in the Southwest of what is colonially known as the United States. As Asian folx – and as Filipinos who have high standards for ourselves – we are always stricken with the feeling of being mediocre: just okay, good enough, nothing special. This feeling can manifest itself as an inner voice (critic even), a lack of motivation, the loss of trust in oneself, and – overall – defeat. For today’s episode, we’re going to talk about something that we’re good at feeling – feeling mediocre – and hopefully find ways to get out of that and also the will to accept it.

It’s a new year! Who are we? Who do we want to be? What is in store for us? What are the things that we annually look forward to? This episode is all about our ideas and imaginations for ourselves.

mentioned in episode part 2
How many of us have grown up playing video games? How many of us have had parents buy us video games? And then in the same vein, scoot us over to busy ourselves with video games while they tsimis, unwind, or do other things? Like a babysitter, third parent, or friend, video games have been in Filipino households from the 80s and beyond. Today we reminisce about our relationship to video games and how as adults these are becoming avenues for mental health even while it is arguably today corrupting the “youth”?
A great conversation with our good friend Jenna Buffum!

After 2 years of surviving a global pandemic (i.e.intense quarantining, fearing for our lives, and mask mandates), have our values and ways of decision-making shifted in how we relate or want from the world? As most of us have returned to our day jobs in-person, did we return exactly the same? Maybe? Let’s fuck around and find out. With 2022 cooling down the hot-ass desert, let’s talk about possible transitions on the horizon, contemplation, or themifestation.

Have you ever been in a conversation among other Filipinos about income, only to be followed up with a question about your profession? Are you guilty of, or have you been given unsolicited financial advice? Have you observed your parents/elders give away money they don’t have? “Debt,” “Pagpapautang/Lend,” “Remittance,” and “Income” are all key terms in our culture about money. In today's conversation, we uncover some wounds when it comes to understanding, navigating, and obtaining money.
Join us for Part 1 of this very long, poignant conversation.
