Description

You may well have internet radio fatigue, God knows there are thousands of sites trying to get your attention. The Story of Rock and Roll Radio Show is different. It goes out live weekly on Rebel Rock Radio and Bulldogs radio but also as a Podcast so you can choose when you want to hear it. TSORR is not background music, it is a relationship. The show exists to introduce you to music you will like, play the music you want to hear, and give you some insight into the bands and the music. So, if Rock & Metal are part of your life, give The Story of Rock and Roll a listen. The Story of Rock and Roll Radio Show or TSORR covers a vast range of Rock, Metal, Punk & Blues. It showcases guitar based-music from around the world. You will get music from the mid 60's all the way through to albums released this week. With TSORR it is all about the music. If you love guitars and loud rock and roll this is the show for you. Each week it features many of the top rock and metal bands in the world. There is always a healthy selection of ACDC, Priest, Maiden, Metallica, Rush, Kiss, Queen, ZZ Top, Rammstein, Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Rainbow, Dio, and all the bands that made Rock Music what it is today. The show also introduces you to many great bands that you may or may not have heard of. TSORR tends not to focus on the greatest rock hits of all time, it goes deeper and features tracks off classic albums that you won't hear elsewhere. TSORR is the place to pick up on something you like and then follow up and delve deeper into a band or song that struck a sweet chord with you. The show is always trying to bring you, in Bowie's words, that "One damn song that can make me break down and cry". You get the facts and the stories as well as some irreverent opinions and you can always contact TSORR for more info about something you heard. Give it a try, TSORR; it's all about the music \m/

A couple have people have asked if I will put up the TSORR Turbo edition which goes out every Friday from 18h00 - 19h00 on Bulldogs Radio.  It is only 60 min and it is designed to bring on the weekend, there is very little chatter and it's loaded with Classic Rock and Metal.  Ideal for a short drive somewhere with the volume up and the windows down.  See what you think, if you dig it I will put up some more.  The Story of Rock and Roll. Rock Review: Sixx A.M.

Rock Review: Sixx A.M.

2023-09-2401:01:16

One of the most enjoyable Rock Reviews I have done.  Also one of the most commented on.  I really got deeply into what Sixx A.M. has done and listened to a lot of interviews and watched the documentary mentioned in the review.  James Michael and DJ Ashba add their talent to the charisma and drive of Nikki Sixx.   Sixx A.M. contrasts the light and the dark in a way that few artists can do.  Check it out.  The Story of Rock and Roll. Rock Review: Neil Young

Rock Review: Neil Young

2023-05-2001:06:17

Neil Young is very special to me.  He's a love him or hate him artist.  If you love him you are in the right place.  Attempting to review Neil Young in 60 minutes is as the Greek philosopher Sextus Empiricus once said "It is possible and it is not possible". The Story of Rock and Roll. Rock Review: In Flames

Rock Review: In Flames

2023-04-0701:00:30

Find out why In Flames was such an important band for me and how the Gothenburg sound shaped everything going forward in my Metal world.  Known amongst those who know as Johnny's Gift, In Flames was the gateway band to 21st-century metal.   This 60 min rock review takes you through most of the albums and provides a good all-round introduction to the band for new comers and a blistering reminder of their greatness for everyone else.  .  The Story of Rock and Roll. This Rock Review on My Chemical Romance focuses on why the band is so special to its legions of followers.   Formed in 2001 a few weeks after 9/11 MCR went on to sell millions of albums in a short 12-year career.  Seldom has a band had such an impact on its fans; hear how My Chem affected people's lives and what they consider special about them.  This Rock Review features songs from the band's four full-length studio albums and showcases some of their best tracks.  The Story of Rock and Roll. Rock Review: Thin Lizzy

2022-11-1701:00:19

Another in Rock Review for you, this one on Ireland's finest band, Thin Lizzy.  The review picks up from the Gorham Robertson years and give you a super fast 60 min run through of all the essential material.  If this hits the spot then I suggest go deeper, there is plenty of material for a deep dive into this fantasic band.  The Story of Rock and Roll. Rock Review: Rush

Rock Review: Rush

2022-08-1001:03:45

This was one of the most enjoyable Rock Reviews I have done.  It was made in a hurry due to some work pressure and it is all the better for it.  You could say I did Rush in a rush.  The beauty of Rock Review is that it often leads to a bit of an obsession with the band for a while, in this case, it worked and I am seriously Rush befok at the moment.  Check it out.  The Story of Rock and Roll. An attempt at the impossible.  You can't do justice to the Stones in 60 min, but "Dink jy ek's bang huh"?  It's a pretty good look at some of their best stuff.  Check it out.  The Story of Rock and Roll. TSORR - Your one-stop shop for Rock

Rock Review: Zakk Wylde

2022-01-0101:02:50

Due to popular demand here is the Zakk Wylde Rock Review that aired on Rebel Rock Radio on 19 Oct 2021.  It was a good look at his work with Ozzy, Black Label Society and his solo stuff.  As always 60 min is a stretch but I think we did the big man justice.  The Story of Rock and Roll. Here's a fairly recent Rock Review, it aired on Rebel Rock radio on 30 Nov 2021 and it went down really well.  AX7 is one of those bands that you need to spend a bit of time on, once you get it you really get it.  This RR focused on giving you a broad introduction to this most excellent band.  The Story of Rock and Roll. This Rock review is on SA legend Piet Botha and his band Jack Hammer.  Piet passed away on 2 June 2019 and he is loved and remembered by a legion of rock fans in SA and around the world.  Some of the happiest times of my life were spent watching Jack Hammer and experiencing the magic of Piet Botha and his incredible songs.  This Rock Review went out on 17 and 19 August 2021 and due to popular demand, it is included here so that those who missed it can kick back for an hour and experience the music of Piet Botha and Jack Hammer.  The Story of Rock and Roll. Rock Review : David Bowie

Rock Review : David Bowie

2021-07-3101:00:21

This Rock Review went out live on Rebel Rock Radio on 27 and 29 July 2021.   As always in 60 minutes it barely scratched the surface, it does, however, scratch a very rich vein.  Bowie was amazing, he was unique and I am grateful to have had his music during very important phases of my life.  The Story of Rock and Roll. Rock Review : ZZ Top

Rock Review : ZZ Top

2021-07-2901:00:39

I was sad to hear of the passing of Dusty Hill on 29 July 2021.  I was expecting a new album so the news that he had died in his sleep at the age of 72 came as a surprise.  Here is the Rock Review I did of ZZ Top about 6 months back.  Check it out and pay extra special attention to the bass guitar.  Adios and RIP Dusty, you are already missed.  The Story of Rock and Roll. Here is another Rock Review, this one went out on 6 July 2021 and gives a quick overview of Ozzy and his awesome guitarists.  As always with the Rock Review it is impossible to do justice to an artist like this in an hour but its a good snap-shot. The Story of Rock and Roll. Rock Review: Megadeth

2021-02-1701:03:00

Here is another rock review, this one aired on Rebel Rock Radio in December 2020 if I recall, it was a lot of fun.  I really enjoy rediscovering the artist that I am reviewing and this one was even better than normal.  I forgot just how hectic the whole Dave Mustaine story is.  Enjoy.   The Story of Rock and Roll. Rock Review: Iron Maiden

2020-12-1401:02:05

Here's a little bonus for frequent listeners of The Story of Rock and Roll.  The Rock Review is a feature I present monthly on day time radio for Rebel Rock Radio.  The RRR presenters take turns to pick an artist and then present a quick one-hour overview of that artist every week which means my turn comes round once a month.  My first one was The Stranglers, then Van Halen (before Eddie passed away), Queensrÿche, and Iron Maiden.  Here's the Iron Maiden Rock Review and if it gets some interest I'll put up the others.     It's a lot of fun, see what you think.  Feedback welcome, find me on The Story of Rock and Roll Facebook page.  The Story of Rock and Roll. S7E17 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 25 April 2024.  As always it was a mixed bag of new and old, heavy and not so heavy.  Listeners rated it the most fun ever.   Note that if you listen to TSORR on Google Podcasts they are shutting it down.  You can find us on plenty of other sites if this happens.  The TSORR website will always be able to help.   This week's Twisted Twins featured tracks called ‘Heartbreaker’.  As happened last week we turned it into a Twisted Triplets with tracks called ‘Heartbreaker’.  Led Zeppelin, Motörhead, and Dirty Honey did the honours.     Immortals this week came from Bon Jovi off the Keep The Faith album.  Clocking in at 9:52 we listened to ‘Dry County’.   The Diabolical Challenge looked at four bands beginning with the letter ‘Q’.  The idea is that we have 4 albums, and you can only pick one.  This week we had: Quiet Riot – Metal HealthQ5 – Steel the LightQueen – Queen IIQueensrÿche - Empire Artists Featured: Raveneye, Sons of Liberty, Dead City Ruins, Suicide, Bombers, Brave Rival, the Doors, The Who, Judas Priest, Bruce Dickinson, Five Finger Death Punch, Megadeth, Massive Wagons, Saxon, Led Zeppelin, Motörhead, Dirty Honey, Pearl Jam, Seether, Papa Roach, The Offspring, Creed, Hinder, Mastodon, Newsted, Wolf, Wolfmother, mammoth WVH, Bon Jovi, Quiet Riot, Q5, Queen, Queensrÿche, Arno Carstens, Johnathan Martin, Die Toten Hosen, Böhse Onkelz, Kerry KingThe Story of Rock and Roll.
