If you want to grow a successful business to live your purpose and create the life of your dreams, then putting yourself out there and showing up is crucial. Hopefully some of the information covered in this podcast will help you think more about the visibility for your business. If people don't see you, hear you or know that you exist they can't find you. If your ideal client doesn't know you can solve their problem, they can't hire you. In order to get more business, you need to not only get out there in the world, but in the right places so that you can become known by your ideal client. Your ideal client is PART of your niche, along with what you are really good at doing, what problem you help solve, and how you solve that problem.  The more you know about whom you serve, (age, profession, etc.), what their biggest pain point is, how you serve them, where they hang out, where they get their sources of information, how to evoke emotion in them, the more likely you will reach them, understand them to market your offers well to them. Here is the link to the helpful template to create an avatar of your ideal client.   --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/dcfempreneur/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/dcfempreneur/support
Are you feeling the Coronavirus-Inspired Productivity Pressure? Living our daily lives amidst this virus pandemic is enough stress. We face enough stress in life without putting more on ourselves, but that's exactly what many of us are doing right now by thinking that because we are stuck at home we are supposed to be doing something with ourselves, other than just coping.  In fact, in the first few weeks, instead of allowing ourselves some grace to adjust, especially us entrepreneurs we were hustling to move our business operations online, maintaining networking, adjusting to new schedules, learning how to home school for us parents, it's all just so much.  This is some real talk on this pressure.  Interested in being a guest on the DCfempreneur podcast? Today we hosted our first virtual coffee chat. One key takeaway was a saying that “When fishermen can’t get to sea, they mend their nets”. This is what we are doing amid this virus pandemic. One of the tasks I’ve decided I now have time for is preparing a Crowdfunding campaign for The Fempreneur Collaborative. I’ve been researching and studying the different platforms, fees and how to be successful. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/dcfempreneur/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/dcfempreneur/support
Have you heard of the story of "Stone Soup"? There are many variations on the story of stone soup, but the moral of the story is the same. Take a listen.  DCfempreneur is celebrating 1 Year! We are celebrating one year of community, growing together, becoming better and stronger -- together! Join us on Wednesday, February 5, 5:30-7:30pm for a Networking Mixer. We will celebrate our Anniversary and also network with the members of the Tower Club. Enjoy hors d'oeuvres, appetizers and one drink ticket, included in your registration. A signature cocktail created just for our group will be offered at the bar for $5. This event is open to the public. DCfempreneur Founding and FAB members will receive complimentary admission, including significant others/spouses. Launched in February 2019, DCfempreneur was founded to offer support and a sense of community to DC area female entrepreneurs. It's truly astonishing how fast we have grown and blessed we are with the amazing professional women that have become our Founding and Fempreneur Advocate Business members. The networking events and workshops over the course of the past year were designed to not only help you learn something new, and be visible in your business, but to share your skills, knowledge and expertise. What is remarkable is how the members themselves have come together on their own to continue to work together long after the conclusion of each event. This is what makes us the most proud. Together, you have created this community. The more time we spend getting to know one another, the stronger that rapport becomes. DCfempreneur is honored that we have helped you find your next collaboration, opportunity, strategic alliance or referral partner. By networking and building relationships with other business professionals, you have experienced the impact first hand and have come together to grow your businesses to make them more purposeful, profitable and sustainable. For that we celebrate YOU! We would love for you to join us in this celebration of YOU! Starting your own business is no small feat, and this community is here to rally behind you and help you succeed. The proceeds of this event will go into a fund to increase the quality of the DCfempreneur Podcast for our members by using better quality production software, equipment, and editing tools and also to build a new learning management system.  Thank you for your support.  --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/dcfempreneur/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/dcfempreneur/support
A Decade in Review

A Decade in Review

2019-12-1213:05

We have heard it a million times: "Life is Short". We have limited time on Earth, but we can live our lives to the fullest everyday. Are you truly living life to its fullest? Are you spending time on what matters most (to you)? This is a question I revisit every year when I work in my PowerSheets.  It’s so important to look back, celebrate your wins, acknowledge your growth and the lessons learned and that will bring you closer to your dream life. Sounds like a Cliche? I promise it's not.  The 2010s are coming to a close and we’re about to enter a whole new decade. I don’t know about you, but a lot has happened over the last ten years. Even in the last one year; incredible things, super challenging things, but look at how much has changed.  Psychologist and computer scientist J.C.R. Licklider said “People overestimate what can be done in one year, and underestimate what can be done in ten.”   So in today's episode, we talk about A Decade In Review: Where were you 10 years ago today? Consider where you are now, what has changed? What have you learned over these past ten years? What mistakes have you made?  What were your lessons learned?  What have you said you'd do "one day" that you haven’t made time for? (eh hem, go do it NOW!) What do you need to let go of (cue Frozen music) in order move forward in 2020? I’d love to know — what’s the #1 thing you’re letting go of before the new decade? We will be doing a special ceremony at the Holiday Party on Sunday, (with super cool dissolvable paper!) hope you will be joining us, otherwise, please let me know in the comments below. Share as much detail as you feel comfortable. Interested in being a guest on the DCfempreneur podcast? Should I thank my Dad or blame him? Some say that the Entrepreneurial Spirit isn't something you are taught, it's something you are born with.  Are entrepreneurs born into this world with a special drive and ability to recognize an opportunity? Or can can entrepreneur be created through education, experience and mentorship? Multiple research studies have indicated that there may be an "entrepreneur gene"--or at least that people with certain genetic characteristics and personality traits are more likely to be entrepreneurs than others.  For me, I grew up with my Father as my inspiration. He owned his own business for 60+ years before retiring. The hardest working man I have ever known.  Where Did Your Entrepreneurial Spirit Originate?
