As someone who was formally depressed and overweight, I know what its like to feel stuck. But it doesn't have to be that way. Fitness and nutrition were the answer to my happiness and positivity. The True Self Podcast was thought up as a means to share my stories and knowledge but most importantly, have others share theirs. Focusing on overall health and wellness, instead on what your body looks like, are the answers to finding your happy, your empowerment and the confidence you are looking for to walk down the pat of being your True Self! If you've been a part or are a part of the Tucson CrossFit community, you know who our guest is today. Leanda Keahi-Bevans is a well know for her positivity, tenacity and all around positive energy. Let's talk about how difficult it is to ask and accept help when you know you need it. Byanka and Yahaira both admit that this is a problem that they deal with constantly. Going through this thing called life, we expect to go through it alone and be able to solve our problems by ourselves. Well, that's simply not true. We all need coaches and mentors to help us along the way, especially when it comes to weight loss. We go in and out of subjects but the overall theme here is realizing that eating for health and longevity is not the same as eating for performance or aesthetics. The point of the podcast is to bring to light that extreme dieting and diets are being peddled as healthy. Health is the act of taking care of your body for longevity purposes and aesthetics are merely a side-effect of this. There are a few tears shed...again. But, they aren't in vain.
