Welcome Back to Embracing Birth the Podcast! In this episode Lillian Odom, owner of Modern Family Doula and Mama to a beautiful baby boy, talks about the journey of having her first child Wesley. Lillian decided to go with a midwifery practice and was overall very healthy during her pregnancy, but during the last trimester faced some complications that ultimately lead to her being induced early, which was one of the last things she was expecting to happen. Despite the unexpected complications, Lillian still had an amazing childbirth experience and tells it all here on the podcast, including what the NICU stay was like and how they transitioned from NICU to home. Lillian has an amazing story as a new mom and I can't wait for you all to hear it! Check it out on Apple podcasts, Google Podcasts, and Spotify! Lillian's info:www.modernfamilydoula.comInstagram: @ModernfamilydoulaPodcast Info: www.embracingbirththepodcast.com Instagram: @embracingbirththepodcast

Today's episode features a good family friend of mine, Pennie, who tells us about her beautiful journey into motherhood through the pregnancy and birth of her son, Mason. Pennie's husband, Mike, was going on deployment in a remote location near the end of her pregnancy, and set to come back just prior to her due date to make it back in time for the birth, but when Pennie's water broke earlier than expected their plans definitely took a big turn! Pennie talks a lot about the research she did during her pregnancy to make sure she knew her birth preferences and could advocate for herself during her labor, as well as her decision to hire a birth doula so she would have plenty of labor support. This episode is packed with great information and advice from such an incredible mom! Pennie, thank you for sharing your story with us! I can't wait for you all to hear it! Website: www.embracingbirththepodcast.com Instagram and Facebook: @embracingbirththepodcastFind us on your favorite podcast app!

From having tons of support around her as a single mom to the day she gave birth, Carla tells it all. However, in this episode we focus primarily on the postpartum period otherwise known as the "4th trimester." Carla realized early on she was having signs of postpartum depression and quickly got the help she needed. Carla tells us what resources she used and what really helped her during that time.
