Did you know Texas is going vegan? At least, with sustainable farming pioneers like this guest, Texas and other cattle-raising states are well on their way...Renee King-Sonnen - former cattle rancher's wife who loved rodeos and cowboy boots - is the Founder and Executive Director of Rowdy Girl Sanctuary - a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Since going vegan in 2014, Renee has converted Rowdy Girl Sanctuary from a cattle ranch to a sanctuary for over 120 animals (and her husband from a multi-generational cattle rancher to an animal rescuing vegan). This is the first documented beef cattle ranch vegan conversion in history, and also has pioneering initiatives such as: The Rancher Advocacy Program which transitions cattle ranchers and animal farmers out of animal agribusiness and into other viable farming and business practices, and Families Choosing Compassion is a compassionate alternative to Future Farmers of America and 4-H and brings families of children together that are saddened by the end result that leads to the slaughter of raising their animal friends as “school projects.” Rowdy Girl Sanctuary inspires other ranchers to experience a paradigm shift while helping them move from participating in the cruelty of factory farming to living out compassion towards the animals raised for food. For more about Renee King-Sonnen:Website: https://rowdygirlsanctuary.org/ FB: facebook.com/rowdygirlsanctuary IG: instagram.com/rowdygirlsanctuary/YouTube: youtube.com/rowdygirlsanctuaryThanks for listening!FOR VEGAN-FRIENDLY TIPS, RECIPES & SUPPORT - request to join our community of rebels in the Eating Like You Give a Damn group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/eatinglikeyougiveadamnFOR VEGAN AND PLANT-BASED COACHES - request to join our Coaching Like You Give a Damn group on Facebook for business support: https://www.facebook.com/groups/plantpoweredcoaches If you like what you hear, don't forget to: SUBSCRIBE and SHARELeave a REVIEWTAG @coachinglikeyougiveadamn on Instagram and Facebook!

What does a winner of The Ultimate Fighter, a five-time Formula One champion, Jackie Chan, the number 1 ranked tennis player in the world, and Arnold Schwarzenegger have in common? They are just some of the many big names in Hollywood and sports that you’ll find on the world-class team responsible for the highly anticipated, revolutionary new documentary which is fueled by the truth about meat, protein, and strength called The Game Changers. The film follows the story of James “Lightning” Wilks, a UFC fighter whose world was turned upside down when he discovered an elite group of world-renowned athletes and scientists who prove that everything we had been taught about protein was a lie.And today’s guest is none other than James Wilks himself to share the goods on why and how this movie came together.James Wilks is a combatives instructor for the US military (including the US Marines, US Army Rangers, and US Navy SEALs) and a former UFC fighter who won the Ultimate Fighter in 2009. After a shocking discovery regarding gladiators - which he tells us about in this interview - it launched him on a five-year quest for the Truth in Nutrition, modeled after Bruce Lee's Truth in Combat philosophy. He put every preconception he had about nutrition to the test, traveling to four continents to meet with dozens of the world’s strongest, fastest, and toughest athletes, as well as leading experts on athletics, nutrition, and anthropology. What he discovered was so revolutionary, with such profound implications for human performance and health — and even the future of the planet itself — that he had to share it with the world. Is the world ready for what James and his team have to share? We’re about to find out!In this interview, we talk about:What exactly sets this film apart from any other that utilizes studies on sports nutrition - and human nutrition in generalJames’s personal experience of measurable performance enhancement that gave him a huge advantage over his competitors just 6-weeks after going plant-based (and strength and fitness enthusiasts, you’ll be blown away by his achievement)And James explains how diet directly impacts your - um - manhood, and how to prevent and reverse erectile dysfunction at every age...no viagra necessary! Website: https://gamechangersmovie.com/FB: https://www.facebook.com/gamechangersmovie/IG: https://www.instagram.com/gamechangersmovie/Alicia Wilks IG: https://www.instagram.com/plantedmom/Thanks for listening!FOR VEGAN-FRIENDLY TIPS, RECIPES & SUPPORT - request to join our community of rebels in the Eating Like You Give a Damn group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/eatinglikeyougiveadamnFOR VEGAN AND PLANT-BASED COACHES - request to join our Coaching Like You Give a Damn group on Facebook for business support: https://www.facebook.com/groups/plantpoweredcoaches If you like what you hear, don't forget to: SUBSCRIBE and SHARELeave a REVIEWTAG @coachinglikeyougiveadamn on Instagram and Facebook!

By now, you’ve heard me conduct interviews with guests in the plant-based realm to uncover some pretty cool ideas and stories related to their experience and expertise in order to give you something to chew on that maybe you hadn’t heard or thought of before. But what does it sound like when someone who eats meat interviews me about the idea of eating like I give a damn??Well, here’s your chance to hear an example! This interview was conducted by Kirk Churchill - personal trainer, US Army veteran, and host of the Kicking It With Kirk podcast. In his show, he is all about sharing the power of perspective by being open and curious about the people around us and how they view the world through their unique experiences. In this interview, Kirk and I discuss compassion, protein, mindset, and...my embarrassing digestive disorder that plagued me since I was a kid. It’s nothing pretty to have to talk about, but I do it for the benefit of others who might be in distress today with what I experienced in my belly. You’ll hear about how Kirk is a bodybuilding enthusiast and is curious about how one would get those #VeGains - and if that’s your passion too, then you’ll love the resources I point out as well.Request to join our community of rebels at www.eatinglikeyougiveadamn.com/group for recipes and support. Thanks for listening!FOR VEGAN-FRIENDLY TIPS, RECIPES & SUPPORT - request to join our community of rebels in the Eating Like You Give a Damn group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/eatinglikeyougiveadamnFOR VEGAN AND PLANT-BASED COACHES - request to join our Coaching Like You Give a Damn group on Facebook for business support: https://www.facebook.com/groups/plantpoweredcoaches If you like what you hear, don't forget to: SUBSCRIBE and SHARELeave a REVIEWTAG @coachinglikeyougiveadamn on Instagram and Facebook!

It’s no secret. Heart disease is the #1 killer of Americans. But did you know that according to the World Health Organization, it is the #1 preventable killer in the world? Most of us have several loved ones at risk, or who have already suffered a heart attack. I know I have loved ones who have, and they describe it as the scariest thing they have ever experienced. I am so grateful that they are still with us because of emergency medical intervention, but not everyone is so lucky. We hear that smoking, exercise, and diet are all main factors that can make or break our hearts...and when diet IS such a big factor...what exactly does the best diet for the heart look like? Here to break it down for us bite for bite is vegan cardiologist, Dr. Heather Shenkman, who is a practicing interventional cardiologist in Tarzana, California and serves on the Board of Directors for the California chapter of the American College of Cardiology. And, she is the author of the book The Vegan Heart Doctor’s Guide to Reversing Heart Disease, Losing Weight, and Reclaiming Your Life. While she performs complex angioplasties to open up clogged arteries, she prefers to help her patients reduce their risk of heart disease through a healthy lifestyle, including a plant-based diet and regular exercise. She herself is an avid athlete, having completed over 100 events of various distances, from sprint triathlons to Ironman distance triathlons, marathons and ultramarathons, and several 100-mile century cycling events. You are really going to dig our conversation because we cover:Why most doctors don’t communicate the power of a plant-based diet to their patients, and the injustice we see in the health care system related to that. The major problem with the food that hospitals and schools provide, how it impacts you and the people you care about...and you’ll be really surprised to hear what’s being done about it.How exactly Dr. Shenkman counsels her patients on diet to improve their quality of life, and what a healthy vegan breakfast, lunch, and dinner looks like. And you’ll even hear about what she eats and how she exercises while currently 35 weeks pregnant!Dr. Shenkman also gives us an honest look at whether or not vegans are at risk of a cardiac event while setting the record straight on what a healthy diet looks like.Dr. Shenkman's Website:http://drheathershenkman.com/FB:https://www.facebook.com/HeatherShenkmanMD/IG:https://www.instagram.com/veganheartdoc/Twitter:https://twitter.com/VeganHeartDocThanks for listening!FOR VEGAN-FRIENDLY TIPS, RECIPES & SUPPORT - request to join our community of rebels in the Eating Like You Give a Damn group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/eatinglikeyougiveadamnFOR VEGAN AND PLANT-BASED COACHES - request to join our Coaching Like You Give a Damn group on Facebook for business support: https://www.facebook.com/groups/plantpoweredcoaches If you like what you hear, don't forget to: SUBSCRIBE and SHARELeave a REVIEWTAG @coachinglikeyougiveadamn on Instagram and Facebook!
